This post will be public for everyone to see, as it contains some extremely important information. Before I get to that, however, I would like to take a moment to talk about how I've been feeling about things the past year.

Sihai's Legacy started over a year ago, back around July of 2019. Since then, it's changed radically in scope and ambition, and it is a dream that I have been chasing tirelessly. Over the course of the last year, a number of changes has happened at a more logistical level. Of this, I refer to the decreasing of prices or the bi-weekly update schedule I have been strictly adhering to. I think these changes were very good, as the amount of support I've had for this project of mine truly warms my heart. The amount of patrons have only grown over time and every time I see that a new one has joined, or I see the sheer list of you all, I'm hit with this feeling of...

Wow.

You all are supporting a project that, despite how goofy and horny it can be, I take very seriously and hold very dear to my heart. Thank you all, so, so much! I hope you all will continue to support me, come what may.

As for, uh, what may...

Since the start of this project, I've had daxhush working with me. He's made sprites, CGs, mini-CGs, and even some UI elements. He's a great artist and an even greater friend.

Unfortunately, Dax will be stepping off of this project for reasons that I don't really need to disclose since it was settled privately. It's not anything actually bad, mind you, and I'm still friends with the guy! He just can't work on the game anymore is all.

Yet, where does that leave me? Finding a new artist would be... complicated. I would have to get all of the art replaced for the sake of cohesiveness, which can't be a fun task... and if one character were to be updated while the others aren't, it would look incredibly jarring. Plus there's the whole matter of finding an artist in the first place with the right art style and payment and... well, I'm sure you get my point.

Long story short, I'm going to have to do something that I was only planning to do in case of this exact situation. Until I can find a suitable replacement and have the means by which to bring them on as the sprite artist, I will be taking over as artist.

Scary.

Naturally, I've already been working on this since we made the decision, so I'm not entirely empty-handed. If you want a taste of what I have to offer, have a look.

It's quite different, isn't it?

I'm a very new artist, not even having a year's worth of experience under my belt. Compared to Dax's art, I'm aware that I can barely hold a candle. And yet, this is my only option- so I hope you all understand! And I, uh, hope this doesn't drive people away.

My stuff won't be replacing Dax's all at once, considering that the effort would probably kill me. Art on top of coding, writing, making music, fixing bugs, and planning makes for quite the busy workload, after all. My plan is that, starting with Jehu's day 8, I will be doing my best to replace art on those days forward. Once I finally have all the sprites from earlier days made, I will replace those. That way, there aren't differences in art style between the sprites.

But when will Jehu's day 8 come out?

That, I think, is the final subject for this post. The bi-weekly updates have been going really well so far, with consistent content for patrons and a promise of regular content for free-to-play players alike. With this new workload, however, I would be straining myself into oblivion if I were to keep it up. For that reason, after each Jorge day (meaning after all the days of a certain set of days is finished), I will be taking an additional two weeks between that day and Jehu's next day, which would start off the next set of days. For a shorter way to look at it, it would be:

Jorge day 7 -> (4 weeks total) -> Jehu day 8 -> (2 weeks total) -> Paul day 8 -> (2 weeks total) -> Alan day 8 -> (2 weeks total) -> Shen day 8 -> (2 weeks total) -> Jorge day 8 -> (4 weeks total) -> Jehu day 9...

...Honestly, it might just be easier to do things on the 1st and 15th of every month. I'll have to think about that. But yeah, this means that instead of there being 2.5 months between every public build, there'll be 3 months between every public build. Those two extra weeks won't be any time off, as I will be spending the majority of them working on Sihai's Legacy- be it planning, drawing, coding, writing, music... or anything else that I have to do myself.

I'm very sorry for the sudden change and I hope that you all will be patient with me. If you're still on board, please look forward to Jehu's day 8 hopefully coming out in mid-January! Thank you!

tl;dr:

I will be replacing daxhush as the artist for Sihai's Legacy and there will be an extra two weeks separating Jehu and Jorge's days (the respective first and last of a cycle of days). Thank you for your support and I hope you all have a great holiday!
