Post production report #10 - Lighting and environment is 100% done, Honoka and Momiji VO Clip! (Patreon)

Hi there!

Let's start with the hot one: I received Honoka's VO this week and I am quite happy with it. I think she aligns well with Momiji :)

(Please not that I amateur-ishly put together the VOs without editing that much. It will sound 100x better at the end!)

I've also got the voice for the black sheriff. All the other male voices, including all demons, are supposed to be done on wednesday. I really hope Ayane's VO will be done ASAP, too.


Lighting is finally done!
I finished the lighting this week, I gave the intro a rather dark and eerie feeling with it and I think it fits nicely to the animation! I think this perfectly shows how important lighting is, especially when you compare it to how it was before.

What are the next steps?
While waiting for the remaining VOs and the sound design, I'll give the whole animation the vegas treatment. I applied it on the dream scene already and I am starting with the intro today.
On wednesday, I am going to align the male VOs with the animation, ask the VA for potential corrections and I'll correct some lyp sync issues, if there will be any.
By the end of the week, I'll start designing the movie poster and watermark for the free version of the movie and future projects. The watermark won't be in the patreon release!

Hey now… You scored the Voice Actress for Killi from Subverse. Nice! I wouldn’t worry about Hardcore DOA fans, it’s not like DoA or Ninja Gaiden pride themselves on quality of story or characterization. I always find those who make these erotic fanfictions like StudioFow’s Konoichi or this Dark Mirror you’re creating here to be much more intriguing or of better quality of the canon universe anyway. The English actresses are pretty damn good! It may be a bit strange to hear them in English but the effort is really paying off. The lighting you’ve absolutely improved, much better tones, shading and glows. The one thing I’ve really been paying attention to… all the little eye movements, head tilts, the flowing hair. I imagine this is quite a lot of work to pull off, everything looks so alive. It’s quite brilliant. And I mean, you know the tone you’re going for hehe. If the characters tilt their heads they jiggle, if she breathes, they jiggle. You are a professional at your craft! Keep it up! Now, I’d really like to inquire of what type of music you’re going for? I know Synthwave is all the hype right now, if you were going that direction… I’d be curious if you were going the more John Carpenter route or a more Perturbator feel. Wow wow wow, PD! Thank you so much for sharing that voiceover preview! That was just the kind of playful banter I had hoped for, with slightly ominous undertones. Nicely done - and a big compliment to the actresses of Momiji and Honker for pulling it off. 😇 I mean, it's true - the DOA/NG plot certainly isn't for everyone and shouldn't ever by used to stifle anyone's creativity. I say that as a big NG fan. However, I think it's still important to have the characters be true to their original incarnations. Which is exactly why I'm so glad your writing, and even moreso your facial work just fits so perfectly. Seriously, it has been a blast rewatching the colour-graded material and seeing Ayane just oozing confidence, and Momiji hamming it up a little because being evil is just so fun. 😈 I really enjoy the way you handle the coloured light now. Most of it is very naturalistic, but you go all-out on the otherworldly look when the situation calls for it, with those reds and greens. Almost makes you wonder if the different demon lights are just cosmetic or actually have slightly different effects. You know, it's kind of impressive, really: we have seen these previews throughout the whole production, and it's still just instantly exciting every week when you see a clip or two! It's really a blast having been able to follow this from the beginning ☺️ Looking forward to the poster, too - your facial expressions are so good in motion already, I'm sure you'll do great work with still images, too! I'm totally ready to change my phone wallpaper! 😉

Hi there, Roach :) Thank you so much for the praise! And yup, I love what the actresses did here ;) I am supposed to get Ayane's VO tomorrow, I am super excited for that! I am very proud that everyone seems to love the details and I think they contribute a lot to the experience at the end :3 My sound designer makes the music/drones for me. I don't want to use copyrighted music or copyrighted (if that was your suggestion) material in general or at least I want to do that to an absolute minimum (it's not like I own DOA but they never go on manhunting for anyone who does porn out of it). I will have close contact with my sound designer and I think we can manage to do some nice build up with the music but most importantly, it should underline a rather dark atmosphere. I love the examples though, they are quite inspiring! I am excited for Subverse, too! :D

Hi Lyla :) Yis! The VAs are amazing and tomorrow, I get to adjust Ayane's VO which I am especially excited for :D I totally agree, the personalties should remain in general, I changed that with Momiji here but there is a little build up to it. On retrospective, I wish I would invested a little more time on building up to that change buy giving the original Momiji more screen time and maybe left out 1 sex scene for Episode 1 and implement it in Episode 2.. the lacking build up is definitely a weakness in EP 1. I am incredibly thankful for the many patrons who stayed with me throughout this year, which is a blast. I think this is extremely rare and I can't even describe how I feel about that (which is probably because of the effin language barrier :D;). Oh woops, don't get caught with it though! It's not going to be SFW :P
