It's Sunday, time for the progress report.

This week I've blocked out some new animation, and worked on textures, lighting and fur.

As always when using a new character build (the wolf) things will need fixing up e.g. errant weight painting or the fur might not be dense enough when in something other than a T pose, so that's been worked on. As for texturing the fox and wolf now have a bit more... well, texture to their junk on the standard version adding a bit more visual interest. I've now put stars into the night sky so if any angle shows that it won't just be a blue/black void. I'm still playing around with the lighting and when I've got it dialed in I'll get all existing shots re-rendered with the new lighting and textures (spotted some other things with the animation that I'll also tweak) but I'm waiting for it to cool down again here before I do that, we've had another bout of hot weather and it has caused a few nights of bad sleep so I'm also dealing with that fun.

When I posted the mid week EP update I was reminded that I said I was going to do a nice wiggle loop of the fox showing off, at first I had the wolf in the foreground but after several attempts I could not get his idle animation to look good either having too much movement or so little he looked almost static. Unable to find a happy middle ground, today I've re-rendered this omitting him, If I can work out a reverse shot of the wolf that pairs with this one then this sequence will go into the final animation, if not this will be a stand alone loop. (I've included both the version with and without the wolf)

The executive producers have decided the next character should be the PolarBurr so I'll be working on refining that characters sculpt as a side activity.

I've started blocking out the next loop with the fox on top. I've included some preliminary stills. The coming week will be more work on this along with the character building.

see you all next week. ^_^

(note on files, the h264 and h265 video files are identical, the h264 versions are bigger but will play on mostly everything, the h265 are smaller but needs a more up to date player, like VLC)

For some reason in the top of the tail swish the fur comes apart in a weird way, is that a fur model glitch?

Diesel Weasel

Awesome work, dude. :B Loving how the stills are looking, and I know a few people who will go nuts over that animation. XB

The new fur textures are coming along really well. They look much fuzzier now.

I just went and checked, the tail has a lot of individual 'clumps' / 'tufts' and little bits of 'flyaway' procedural randomness sticking out from the general silhouette. What you are seeing is always there (and has been on the previous animations too) it's catching the moonlight and then getting elongated by the motion blur.

Huh, and I thought it was layers that were somewhat opening up to show the skin underneath. That being said what color is the skin underneath?

PxlFur

Ah I think I see what you mean, I'll DM you so we don't clutter up this comments section if it requires some back and forth.
