 It's tradition now. Whenever Naomi dates a new mom, she must be depicted taking that mom's kid somewhere fun. Did it with Anna and Rachel, now she's doing it with Maddie and Isabelle. 

Maddie at least seems like she's coming to terms with the knowledge that feeding, clothing, sheltering, and schooling her daughter has all been for naught, and that the easier way to win her love was just to buy her a triple-decker ice cream cone at the boardwalk.
