0 to 1 marketing effort

In order to help raise fund for our translation expansion, I am putting at least some effort into marketing. And with Flash Player(not Adobe Animate) being dead, we have almost zero presence on the net. Here are the things we are working on and experimenting:

  • One page comic - want to use this as a medium to tell some untold stories between Lilith and each monster (attaching a rough draft)
  • Cross promo - we will be doing more of these with other dirty minded creators
  • Trailer - shot2 and shot3 animation intro are almost done, I think these are good enough to introduce our story, theme and world to the players (attaching shot3 draft)

I want to release a content update before Christmas. 


Thrive Offering (aka the ex-endings, ex-achievement system)

After so many years, I have finally came down to a solution that I really love! Thrive Offering is a special option that would be available after actions(eg hunting, invade, explore etc), when certain conditions are met. Example:

  • Cirrus max level + 5 consecutive successful invasions
  • Maratus max level + getting great result from hunting
  • (Dionaea & Harska & Flyijng Dragon) max level + 3 consecutive successful defense

The conditions will be visible after getting a monster of the species to max level.


Operation improvement

Part of the reason I make adultish game is I think they can be done better. And part of that requires understanding, communicating, planning and refining of our operation, continously. 

Recently I have even tried to hire an assistant to help on marketing/QA/community management and support/testing. Although it didn't work out in the end, I have learned alot during the process. And I am thankful for those who helped me! Other than learning and comparing some project management and collaboration softwares(Miro, ClickUp), I have also been taking a look at Unity. I will share my findings next month. (Attaching operation cycle graphic and vision to motion metrics we adapted)

Loving the idea of comics and especially, those short animations. Im really looking forward to them. Im glad your approach to the final result of the game is improving and coming along well.

Sounds like a step up in professionalism, I approve! By the way have you tried talking with some of the other more professional adult game devs? Japan obviously has many like Lilith soft, Eushully, and Ninetail, that have all been around the block as it were. And then there are the indies that are hitting above their weight like Eeny Miny Moe, and FreakilyCharming. And over here we have the team doing Wildlife, that also has the same goal of doing adult well. Also studio FOW, though with them it may be better to ask about challenges they faced. There is a wealth of knowledge that you maybe able to tap into in order to make this level up smoother. Or maybe you already are and I’m just being a fool here.

I talk to creators from the west more often, as we have some organized groups, with more sharing mindsets. I also get to make exchange with creators when we do cross promo, not only on marketing stuff, but on workflow, design process etc~ But you are right, chatting does help, and should be considered as part of productivity ^O^

I am excited! It has been hard to get the final reward system makes sense somehow, in terms of the balancing between: 1. sensible triggers(time and place) and naming, 2. conditions that allow me to adjusts gameplay difficulty and fun, 3. flexible enough for all the stories we can tell, 4. the scope of how many scenes we can do for all 60 species, 5. some amount of expansion space, 6. tying to current key mechanics like leveling and max level I am just glad you guys allow me to take my time. It will never fly in actual business world^O^

Oh! The comic is wonderful! This is the highlight that will make the game even more interesting! The most important thing is that the comic is not given on the first page when a monster is discovered, but at some stage of the relationship with him. Then it will be harmoniously woven into the history of the relationship as a small digression or addition. The animation is certainly interesting, and it will really look good as a trailer for the game. But the idea with some conditions is just wonderful! I'm looking forward to seeing it up close, as it will make the game quite eventful and some commitments. On the one hand, it will allow you to play the game in your own rhythm, on the other hand, it will be a reward for some things. Yes, that's a good idea. Well, in general, I am very glad that your game is becoming more diverse and multifaceted. There are small inserts of comics, ideas and the integrity of the picture. It is clear that you really want to make a wonderful and interesting adult game! Thank you for this, and do not hesitate to ask for help from the community. It will always help you in any way it can.
