OC - Steven Harvard (Patreon)

FR- Puisque Steven est un ami de Zakary durant son adolescence, je me suis motivée à en faire la présentation plus officielle.

Steven est l'un des trois premier personnages que j'ai crée au secondaire, avec Megan et Emily. Son histoire est restée sensiblement la même, mais par chance, elle a évoluée et maturé. Si on m'avait dit à l'époque que Steven pourrait bien s'entendre avec Zakary, j'en aurais rit un bon coup! À mes yeux, ils étaient très/trop différent. Cependant, je me suis rendue compte qu'au final, malgré ces différences, ils se ressemblaient beaucoup et qu'il était logique au contraire de les voir être amis.

Pour la Bio

D'abord crée dans l'univers South Park (et donc humain) j'ai dû lui trouver une version animale. Facilement, le chat c'est imposé, dû à sa nature indépendante et un peu hautaine, tout comme Steven. Il mesure 5 pi 9, a les yeux verts et les cheveux châtains. Steven est du type renfermé, un peu imbu de lui-même et a de la difficulté a nouer des amitiés, mais cela ne le dérange pas car il aime son indépendance. Il se fou un peu du monde qui gravite autour de lui, car à ses yeux les gens n'en valent pas la peine et ne sont pas assez bien pour lui (ou encore que leurs histoires sont des pacotilles et pas importantes). Cependant, si on arrive à percer sa carapace et à se tailler une place dans sa vie, on découvre alors un être un brin timide en amour, un passionné des arts et un ami sur qui on peut compter, même s'il va peut-être un peu râler selon la tâche à effectuer. C'est le cas d’Émily, pour qui il est prêt à faire n'importe quoi pour elle, tellement il en est fou amoureux.

Pour l'histoire

Steven vient d'une riche famille propriétaire d'une chaine hôtelière haut de gamme. Fils ainé de la famille, ses parents souhaitent qu'il prenne la tête de l'entreprise lorsqu’il sera en âge. Très fier de ce choix, Steven sera très assidu dans ses études. Au secondaire, il rencontre Zakary, un jeune comme lui qui se tient loin de la plupart des autres étudiants de leur niveau.  Si Steven travaille fort à l'école pour avoir les meilleures notes qu'il soit, il trouve totalement stupide les compétitions et les confrontations entres les différents jeunes en classe. Pourquoi débattre de sa valeur, quand on sait qu'on est dans les meilleurs? Steven ne voit aucun intérêt à perdre du temps pour des paroles si futiles. Zakary lui déteste les cliques/groupes de têtes enflées qui se forment et se confrontent, se croyant tous plus supérieurs les uns que les autres et pourtant, il va tolérer que Steven le soit à sa façon. Ils passent la plupart de leur temps ensemble et développent une amitié qui leur est propre. Après le départ de Zakary à l'école militaire, ils garderont contact.

Les années passent et Steven a bien de la difficulté à trouver une fille qui rencontre ses hauts standards (et ceux de ses parents). Puisqu'il aime beaucoup l'art, il va parfois à des vernissages. C'est ainsi qu'il fait la rencontre d'Émily, une artiste multidisciplinaire émergente dans sa ville. Très différente de lui, de par sa nationalité et son statut, elle éveille en lui une attirance qu'il ne pensait jamais soupçonner. Steven se rends compte qu'avec elle il sourit, rit, qu'il est détendu. Il souhaite de plus en plus passer du temps en sa compagnie. Alors qu'il ne pensait pas pouvoir trouver une fille à son goût, Émily a pu franchir les barrières qu'il c'était fait au fils des années. Cela dit, les parents de Steven n'approuvent pas du tout son choix. Une artiste? D'une autre nationalité/race? Ils sont très fermés à cette idée mais Steven ne veut rien entendre. Il a fait son choix et  épousera Émily. Pour elle, il est prêt à tout et dépensera sans compter pour lui offrir le meilleur. Steven s'ouvrira un peu plus aux autres grâce à sa femme. Ensemble, ils auront deux enfants, Hylou et Antoine.

Note : Vous voyez un peu le lien avec Zak? Les deux viennent d'une riche famille et dont les parents veulent les voir reprendre les reines de leur compagnie respective. Ils s'éprennent d'une femme qui n'est pas du tout de leur rang social et dont leurs parents n'approuvent pas le choix.

EN- Since Steven is a friend of Zakary's from his teenage years, I was motivated to give him a more formal introduction.

Steven was one of the first three characters I created in high school, along with Megan and Emily. His story has remained pretty much the same, but fortunately it has evolved and matured. If someone had told me at the time that Steven might get on well with Zakary, I'd have laughed my head off! In my eyes, they were very/too different. However, I realized that in the end, despite these differences, they were very much alike and that it made sense for them to be friends.

For the Bio

First created in the South Park universe (and therefore human), I had to find an animal version. The cat was an easy choice, due to his independent and somewhat haughty nature, just like Steven. He's 5'9", with green eyes and chestnut hair. Steven is a withdrawn type, a little full of himself and has difficulty making friends, but he doesn't mind because he likes his independence. He doesn't give a damn about the world around him, because in his eyes, people aren't worthwhile or good enough for him (or that their stories are trivial and unimportant). However, if you can break through his shell and carve out a place for yourself in his life, you'll discover someone who's a little shy in love, passionate about the arts and a friend you can count on, even if he may grumble a little depending on the task in hand. Such is the case with Émily, for whom he'll do anything because he's so madly in love with her.

For the story

Steven comes from a wealthy family that owns a high-end hotel chain. The eldest son in the family, his parents wanted him to take over the business when he came of age. Very proud of this choice, Steven will be very assiduous in his studies. In high school, he met Zakary, a young man like himself who kept his distance from most of the other students in his grade.  While Steven works hard at school to get the best marks he can, he finds the competition and confrontation between different kids in class totally stupid. Why argue about your worth, when you know you're among the best? Steven sees no point in wasting time on such trivial matters. Zakary hates the cliques/groups of swelled heads who form and confront each other, all believing themselves to be more superior than the others, and yet he'll tolerate Steven being superior in his own way. They spend most of their time together and develop a friendship of their own. After Zakary leaves for military school, they keep in touch.

As the years go by, Steven has a hard time finding a girl who meets his (and his parents') high standards. Since he loves art, he sometimes goes to art openings. That's how he met Émily, an emerging multidisciplinary artist in his town. Very different from him in nationality and status, she awakens an attraction he never thought he'd feel. Steven realizes that he smiles, laughs and relaxes with her. More and more, he wants to spend time with her. Just when he didn't think he'd ever find a girl to his liking, Emily broke through the barriers he'd built up over the years. That said, Steven's parents don't approve of his choice at all. An artist? Of another nationality/race? They're very closed to the idea, but Steven won't hear of it. He's made his choice and will marry Emily. He'll do anything for her, and will spend lavishly to give her the best. Thanks to his wife, Steven becomes a little more open to others. Together, they will have two children, Hylou and Antoine.

Note: See the connection with Zak? Both come from wealthy families whose parents want them to take over the reins of their respective companies. They fall in love with a woman who is not at all of their social standing, and whose choice their parents don't approve of.
