Can't believe it's already that time of year but today marks the 2 year anniversary of this project!

The Anniversary Edition

Last year I remastered and released an Anniversary Edition of Kendall's Secret, my first album ever, to highlight the progress that was made not only in image quality but in technical progress as well. Back then the biggest improvements were the new lighting, the actual hole in the wall (instead of a black spot) and version 8 of Kendall.

This year I remastered my favorite 3 pics of "Gloryhole Obsession" which was Kendall's 3rd album! The biggest improvements this time are the the new expression system, a more realistic skin shader, the new Dongler and version 16 of Kendall!

About Character Versions

It seems to show that on average I made changes on the Kendall model about 8 times a year! Other character models get about ~4-5 changes a year.

In most instances, these changes are very subtle but will add up over time. The reason for these changes are either technical for when I learned new things in DAZ that help me to give them a more realistic look or also slight alterations to their body and facial structure as I want my characters to slightly age with time going by.

That being said, the first year of changes were mostly for giving them a more realistic look as they started off looking quite doll-like.

About new Shaders & Expressions

The new skin shaders and expressions were introduced with Genesis 8.1 sometime around new years 2020/2021. I had to converted all my models from Gensis 8 to 8.1 in order to use these new features, which was quite the ordeal. 

The first time I was using the new expressions was with "Cum for Nature". Back then I was under the impression that after converting all my models to 8.1, they automatically use the new PBR (Physically based rendering) shaders as well but I was mistaken with that. That's why the first time I was using the new shaders was quite recent with "Gloryhole Night". 

When you compare my albums before Gloryhole Night you probably won't notice a huge difference but especially in outdoor scenes- or scenes with hard lighting, the skin appears a lot more natural thanks to the way SSS (Subsurface Scattering) works with PBR. 

While not a fair comparison, as I've known very little about shader optimization back in the early days, you can see this effect very clearly in the comparison pics of this post. Kendall's skin appeared a lot darker and less vibrant when now it looks quite natural. Except for a few details like her nipples, this had nothing to do with the texture or the color of her skin, but rather the way the light was interacting with her skin. Her skin textures are still the same to this day (except for the nipples).


In any case, 

I want to thank you all for sticking with this project! I'm looking forward to the same time next year when we'll do another comparison with hopefully a lot more improvements!
