i'm trans and i would love it if people just quit canceling literally anyone, not to mention the current controversy is peak pointless meaningless harassment of content creators and i'm ashamed of anybody on the attacking side. i'm not anybody of note at all but i had to bail on just having a personal twitter like two years ago because it wasn't worth it anymore, it must be so much worse for people with a significant following. on the bright side this is absolutely gorgeous so there's that

Hard to wash the taste of power out of anyone's mouth. Canceling people for speech/ideology is bad enough, but these people doing it are going to cancel the wrong person someday, a person with nothing to lose and a lot of free time. I wouldn't want to be on either side of that tragedy.

yeah exactly it's not possible for that behavior to accomplish anything that helps literally anyone, it's just purely destructive. streamers get hurt just for playing a video game, queer community looks worse... these are the pointless disasters that painfully remind us that human beings tend to have a pretty consistent ratio of decent people to stupid assholes no matter how they're categorized, and that ratio is not great
