I'm fairly happy with how the colors turned out in this one. I often feel like I don't make the colors as fresh and bright as I would have liked, and this illustration is more in line with what I want to aim for.
For this picture I also used Corel Painter a bit more than I usually do. I did the rough sketch and base colors in Photoshop, and then did most of the rendering in Painter. The brushes in Painter blend in a way that I feel gets a nice looking result more effortlessly for me. Those of you who get the time lapse video at the start of next month may also notice that I jump back and forth between Photoshop and Painter throughout the process, and I do that because there are several tools I like better in Photoshop, like selection and masking tools, as well as color adjustments. So, instead of using just one or the other, I'm trying to get the best of both programs by jumping between them.
