On the next episode of CrossFade, we’re excited to be joined by critic and labor organizer Elana Levin (https://twitter.com/Elana_Brooklyn) to talk about Def Leppard’s “Hysteria” and Cinderella’s “Long Cold Winter” (one of the bands they talk about in Peacemaker)!

Leave a song or question about music, Elana’s work, or ‘80s metal on this post by the end of the day Thursday, October 20!

Listen to this week’s albums on Spotify here:

Never heard CrossFade? It’s free, fun, and sexy!

CrossFade is a music podcast on the MinnMax network hosted by Matt Helgeson and produced by Jason Dafnis. Matt and a guest swap some of their favorite music and listen into it with each other. It’s a great way to hear new music and hear smart people talk about some of their favorite music.

Also, it’s YOUR SHOW as MinnMax supporters, so ask questions, leave songs, and let us know what you think! Even if we don’t get to your song this episode, we’ll add it to the CrossFade Community Spotify Playlist (https://spoti.fi/3aRRgox) and your song might be pulled on a future Community Shuffle episode, so keep sharing!

CrossFade is free for everyone, so subscribe and share with a friend before the next episode publishes: https://apple.co/3kWBb5K

Thanks for checking it out!

I’m wondering if these two albums would be good introductions to the genre? If not what would you choose instead ?

I am so excited. If you had to choose an 80’s “hair metal” band as your favorite, who would it be?

Do you prefer songs that have a concrete ending or songs that slowly fade out implying they're going on forever somewhere in the distance?

What are your Mt Rushmores of iconic album art? Also, throwing out the song 'Archie, Marry Me' by Alvvays as potential song of the week. Thanks and looking forward to the episode! https://open.spotify.com/track/5HLes17mwCwKt81mi0Tk35?si=6ef83676690649df

Going with the rock/metal theme I'll share Або-Або (either-or, pronounced abo-abo) by Vopli Vidoplyasova, one of the first modern Ukrainian rock bands that first started out in the early Ukrainian punk scene of the 80s before branching out to different genres. As you can hear from this tune, it's like if Tom Waits had a baby with Danzig who went on to become the front man for Metallica. Vopli Vidopliassova https://open.spotify.com/track/6kOZpzK0XfGtKMb8ljDZPK My question is, what's a band or album you used to like that you genuinely do not like anymore? I used to listen to Dark Side of the Moon all the time but now I can't get through half of it (and this was before Roger Waters opened his mouth and put in his two cents about russia's invasion of Ukraine)
