In the last few years there has been a surge in board game elements finding their way into video games. Slay the Spire and the like, Dicey Dungeons, deck building in Back 4 Blood, Lost in Random, popular adaptations like Wingspan, Citizen Sleeper and Disco Elysium with their explicit dice skill checks, whatever the hell is going on in Neon White... Do you think this prevalence of board game mechanics is for the better? And if you feel like it, what game franchises could benefit from board game design principles/mechanics?

Hey y’all, Starfield’s combat struck me as kinda bland…I just thought it would be a little bit more fantastical. Do you think there’ll be some form of magic in star field?

Also, missed joke opportunity when talking about the free pizza include with the physical copy of the new TMNT game from Iam8bit. Brian literally said, “I hope it pans out for them.” (As in PAN pizza! It’s obvious right??) Talking about the deal between iam8bit and Pizza Hut…no one laughed…all they needed to do was laugh! It makes me wonder if Brian even knew the comedy gold he had stumbled upon.

Hello Two Ens, What's the best last word or phrase from a movie? Thanks!

what’s good minnmax? growing up i played a lot of flash games a la newgrounds/kongregate and recently was reminded of a little game called z-rox. the basic premise is yr presented with a scan line “window” which a symbol or object passes thru. yr goal is to guess what the symbol is without seeing the entire thing at once. it’s such a simple idea and got me thinking abt all the different “lost ideas” in flash games. do y’all have any flash game mechanic or premise you’d like to see return? (repost coz i got in too late last week xoxo)

Hey MinnMaxers! One of my favorite things to do is go back to old reveal videos and see a crowd's live reaction. There's something about a group of people's shared excitement that just brings me so much joy. Why do you think people are drawn to watching reaction videos? Are there any that stick out to you as particularly memorable?

Hey MinnMaxers! What’s the difference between a live service game and a mmo? My wife asked me the difference and I realized I don’t really know. PS just bought a tshirt and rocked it at work all day yesterday

Welcome back Ben and congrats on getting hitched! And good day to all MinnMaxers. As a teacher, summers still consist of days and nights filled with glorious video game playing. Recently I have been enjoying the benefits of services like GamePass and the new PlayStation Plus. Imagine if your younger selves had access to these before jobs, driving licenses, and life's endless responsibilities! How do you think your video game playing would have changed if your 12 year old versions had access to these endless buffets of games? More multiplayer experiences? Different genres? How would different of a gamer do you think you would be today?

Hi Ben and the Crew, So many games now a days are specifically targeted towards multiplayer experiences. As an adult with job and family, its often difficult to get a consistent group of friends to play one game, at the same time. If you could magically make it so that 2-3 of your friends were always online right when you were and had access to all the same game, which game would you want to play that you otherwise have not been able to?

Hello MinnMax crew! After the disappointing reveal (wasn't it already announced?) of the celebratory video for Dragon's Dogma that left pretty much every fan upset, do you think the Marketing teams need to take a look in the mirror and realize they can't just blindly increase hype or make announcements for announcements? In this case especially, where everyone is aware of the sequel's existence because of the Ransomware leak, it feels particularly tone deaf to just stick to this kind of communication.

With all the recent independent journeys of media personalities like nextlander and Jeff g. It’s seems like I have too many podcasts and streams to keep up with on top of the usual. How do you manage all your media? I know Ben said he mainly listens to gaming podcasts but with some being 3hrs how do you go through them all?

Hey Minnmax crew, this is my first week being a Patron! I hope my question isn't similar to one that has been asked before, but here we go. A couple months back, my girlfriend and I were a few bottles of wine deep when I decided out of the blue to pull up the Sega Genesis emulator on the switch and start playing Shinobi 3 - a game that I played obsessively as a child with very few games to choose from, and one I hadn't played in probably 20 years. To our amazement, I was still incredible at the game, speedrunning through the first 5 levels or so before calling it quits. My girlfriend said it was clear I had some deeply ingrained muscle memory that had never faded with time. My question is - are there are random games from your childhood (aside from the usual Super Mario games) that you think you could drunkenly play like a pro if you booted them up tonight?
