Hey minnmax, I know it’s a bit challenging to think about because we play games a lot, but I’ve been wondering: What kind of impact does a developer or publisher have on a mainstream audience? When we hear FromSoftware is making Elden Ring, we get excited for what came out to be a really good game. But we’re a little more in the know because we care about what’s going on behind a game. But does a big name developer, like Monolith Soft, Naughty Dog or 343 studios, announcing a new ip or game have as much pull with us as Gamers™️ as with the mainstream audience? I know a lot of how that audience views games is dependent on marketing but hypothetically speaking. Anyways thanks for all you do. I look forward to hearing your answers.

Hello Minngenold Maximus and crew! For some reason, with the Kingdom Hearts 4 reveal, I was floored and felt a ton of excitement for the game, yet I knew I had no interest in playing it. I’m not too sure why I felt so much hype after the initial premiere. I never really paid attention to the story and was completely surprised to see another main line game in that franchise. Have you all experienced hype for an upcoming game you have/had no interest in playing? Halo 3 would probably be another example for me, but that’s because Bungie’s trailers were SO GOOD. Thanks everyone!

Hey Gang! When people talk about Tony Hawk games, I feel like most people talk about Pro Skater 2. However, I would respectively submit American Wasteland as an underrated GOAT. It had the widest set of tricks, the most customization, awesome level creators, and a world map that could be traversed with no loading screens! Plus all of the celeb cameos. Thanks!

Hey cohorts! What are some games or trends that you wish had mainstream popularity? I wish Playstation’s “Dual View” 3D monitors were something in today’s era. These allowed people to not have to share the screen and have full screen real estate when playing with 3D glasses in couch multiplayer.

Hello Cohorts and applicable contributors! I was having trouble thinking of an over looked games and decided to play some Max Payne while thinking it over. I ended up playing it for over two hours. The gameplay is extremely satisfying and the story is the perfect balance of over the top cheesiness and engaging noir. I feel like this series is seen as more of a cult classic franchise, but I think it should be up there with the greats like Half Life and Doom. If I had to pick a specific game from the series, it’d be Max Payne 2 as that’s where Remedy really hit their stride.

Hello crew! What video game controller have you held for the longest amount of time? For the sake of argument you can count handheld consoles. For me it has to be the Xbox 360 controller with countless hours put into various multiplayer games as well as using it for years as my main PC controller. Cheers! Nick from Indiana

Hey Friends; I wanted to get your thoughts on the future of physical media and Digital vs Physical games

Hello MinnMaxers, the Secret GOAT is Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective: outstanding character design/soundtrack, great story and creative puzzles. the only thing it lacks is replayability, but you'll be willing to re-play it at least once after you finish it to piece it all togheter.

There are several games which were unfairly maligned at their launch that included stories, mechanics, or themes that were not only worth the price of admission, but also stand the test of time. I'm currently replaying Armored Core For Answer, and I remember reviews at the time just completely botching the reviews and refusing to adapt to the game on its terms. Does this sound familiar? So many japanese games in the aughts were sent to die here in the west not because they were bad, but because audiences were utterly addicted to set piece driven games like COD and Uncharted. For Answer is a masterpiece and one of the best games Miyazaki and Fromsoft ever made, but few people even know about it because reviewers and audiences were so hostile to anything that asked them to adapt. It deserves a look, perhaps even a Deepest Dive. Seriously, just try the game and tell me it isn't some of the greatest mech combat ever devised. As a dev, I am so frustrated that so many of my peers haven't played games like this, but with Elden Ring reaching mass acceptance people are starting to take notice to alternative design philosophies. I'm hoping that more people will open up to playing more mechanically interesting games and a new Armored Core can be met with positivity instead of hostility from gamers, press, and even other devs.
