AJ Moser? More like “A+ Hoser”! The writer, /r/indieheads guy, Game Query co-founder, GI alum, and Unreal Engine social media manager makes his CrossFade debut in our next episode, so throw some questions and songs his way.

Leave a comment, song, or question on this post by Wednesday!

Matt’s album pick for this episode is “Keep It Like a Secret” by Built to Spill (a classic of late ‘90s indie rock), and AJ picked Arcade Fire’s “Funeral” . AJ has seen Arcade Fire at least five times, he called “Funeral” his “favorite record of all time” and “the most influential indie rock album of the 21st century,” and he’s also the guy who liked “Everything Now”! Takes ahoy!

“What’s CrossFade,” you ask?

CrossFade is MinnMax’s music podcast hosted by Matt Helgeson and produced by Jason Dafnis where a guest has Matt review one of their favorite albums and vice versa. We publish every other Friday, so subscribe, rate, and review wherever you get podcasts: https://apple.co/3kWBb5K

Even if we don’t get to your song this episode, we’ll add it to the CrossFade Community Spotify Playlist (https://spoti.fi/3aRRgox) and your song might be pulled on a future Community Shuffle episode, so keep sharing!

Thanks for checking it out!

Hey y'all. Why do you think we "Wooo!" so much at concerts now? Maybe our bodies finally said "This clapping shit hurts our hands too much? *** Gasoline-Hot Staff https://open.spotify.com/track/1gJevlriWcvr4uI87Oalbw?si=Tevkx5dvR-WcDjwVaEIWLw

two incredible albums (though "Perfect From Now On" is my personal favorite from Built to Spill)! i'll put forward a track from another mid-aughts indie gem, Thee More Shallows - Freshman Thesis. https://open.spotify.com/track/75YJiGRdmXxHKPrGgHQxIP?si=74241bc6542d4ff0 edit: well, apparently Epic is buying Bandcamp -- any thoughts on the matter?

Takes ahoy you say? Then I want to give my ranking of Arcade Fire's albums and ask AJ to do the same. For me its Neon Bible > The Suburbs > Reflektor > Everything Now > Funeral (I'm sorry AJ, I started with Neon Bible and "Wake Up" doesn't do anything for me anymore). ----- Alternatively a question: Was the Aughts the golden age of indie music, and if so can we ever reach those heights again? Thanks for coming on AJ, love Arcade Fire and I have been meaning to spend more time on /r/indieheads

What’s up dudes, I really love the podcast and I’m happy to hear the new episodes. What do you think is the best way to get into listening to an artist you haven’t listened to before? Do you start with their popular songs or do you listen to a whole album and if so which album? The first? The newest? Thank you!

Looking forward to this episode! In the Backseat on Funeral is one of my all time favorite album closing songs. What is your favorite song to close an album? For community pick, my suggestion is Under the Westway by Blur. https://youtu.be/c1Uw1uD6lXs

I’ve also seen Arcade Fire five times and Tunnels is my all time favorite song. Do you have thoughts on the band’s unusual marketing? I have spent too many hours on cryptic websites, interactive music videos, and dubious phone lines for one band.

Hey Cohorts! Over the past two weeks I found myself completely obsessed with the small college of St. Peter’s upsetting several big name teams in the March Madness college basketball tournament. I don’t even really like college basketball, but something about the improbable win streak and seeing the community rally around the little guys had me desperately waiting to see how far they would go. This got me curious, what would you consider as your favorite underdog story, real or fictional?
