Yes, this is a challenge.

I've made this item and, for some reason, the hair of the mask won't parent.  After going through the forums and tried to use "Fit to" functionality as mentioned, it's just not working for me.

If anyone figures out a solution, I hope it gets posted here and shared.  Then, depending on what the solution is, I'll probably repost the ZIP file with the required changes.

Four items in this pack: mask, boots, tights and mask hair.

To get the hair on the mask to move during posing, you must select the Tiger Mask Hair item (has a three wavy line icon) from the scene pane.  Go to the Parameters tab.  Under Misc there is a drop down called "Fit to".  There, select the Tiger Mask item.  It should snap to the figure once you change the Genesis 8 pose.

If anyone figures out a way to have this "parentable" straight from the library, I hope you can post it in the comments.

Update: Attached the proper ZIP file.

Update 22 MAR:

I believe I found the source of the hair error.  Looks like I didn't enter in the proper directory.  So, I repacked the ZIP and it should eliminate that error now.

Hi, just thought I'd give you a heads up that you haven't posted the Zip for this but a Png of the image at the top of the post. At least that's all I'm seeing anyway and I thought I'd let you know in case you wondered why nobody was letting you know how they were getting on with the item. I do want to say the pictures makes it look really cool and you're right, it's weird that the hair won't parent for you.

It parents, but only after I create the hair itself. Once I save it and reimport it back into the scene, it just floats in midair. Can't seem to figure how the Fit To (it's in the Edit->Figure menu) and change parent also does nothing.

What are you saving the mask with the hair attached as? If you aren’t saving it as file--save as--support assets--figure/prop assets maybe try that? Or is that what you’re doing already?

itemdump

Yes. Not sure it can be done any other way and still get DIM to work.

Okay I think I may have gotten somewhere. So there seems to be 2 ways of doing this, the easiest way is to make your strand based hair and just save the mask with the hair parented to it as a Scene Subset. Both will then load together in the correct place from that. The other way I found is to select the hair after you have made it and save it as a figure/prop asset. When I did that it loaded up in the right place and I just parented it to the mask and it was fine. Whichever way you do it though you just need to leave it as strand based hair and it'll be fine. I did see something else when I was looking for info, one guy had a video where he loaded and parented SBH to a figure and like you the hair was not in the right place, What he then did was just move the figure and the hair snapped right to where it was supposed to be so maybe if you just wiggle the mask a bit it'll work for you too.

One correction! If you save the hair as a figure/prop asset (which is the better way actually) select the hair but before you save it go into Parameters--Misc and use the drop down menu there to fit the hair to the mask. That way when you load up the hair it will automatically parent to the Mask. And now it's Half past 5 in the morning where I am so I'm off to bed!! LOL I hope all this makes sense.

Oh boy, I've just seen what we're doing wrong. Apparently you DON'T parent the hair to the mask to make it work. You still seem to have to drag the hair to parent it to the mask after so that it will follow poses so I'm not sure what's going on. I did see in my searching for an answer that this guy called Deacon215 made this product using SBH (https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/bcs/dforce-neolithic-outfits-for-genesis-8-male/138803/) so maybe if you drop him a line he can give you a few pointers of how to get this working properly, or point you in the proper direction to get answers. I'm way beyond my knowledge base now unfortunately so sorry that I'm not going to be any more help, the little that I was anyway. Good luck and please let us all know if you do get anywhere.

When I try to add the hair I get that the .dsf file can't be located in product folder. Is there somewhere else I need to load this file from as it doesn't seem to be included in the zip?

itemdump

No, if it's installed from DIM it should place he files in the appropriate directories. Does the hair item show up as a big rounded grey box in the viewport?

Yes that worked! Thanks so much for looking into it and I hope I wasn't a pain lol
