Yo,

Hey, folks. I wanted to check in and give you a quick DevLog because things are working a bit differently this month with the game development progress but that doesn't mean anything is slowing down.

Game Progress Bar

So a lot of you have found it helpful to watch the update progress details in the past. For those that don't know, you can find a quick breakdown of what I'm working on listed on the About page (It's really the only place to put something like this). It'll look something like this:

  • Current Progress on Revamp v0.08
  • Script Revision and Rough Draft:  20%
  • CGs: 15%
  • Draft Revision and Personal Review: 0%
  • Music and Sound: 0%
  • Peer Feedback and Final Editing: 0%

Now, I'll be the first to say that that thing isn't always accurate. I normally prioritize the actual work that I'm doing rather than update the progress bar so it's usually behind schedule or updated in chunks. That being said, for those of you that do watch that thing, I wanna briefly talk about how it'll be off worse than usual for a bit this month.

The month of September for me is going to be insane with a lot of pre-existing obligations and stuff as well as traveling to all those plans. I also have a new puppy that's a friggen handful and he just got in trouble while I was writing this. Now: I promise none of that is going to effect the pace of the game development. I've recently purchased a laptop and I can go mobile on things like writing easier than before. However, based on the obligations or the puppy needing attention/training, I've had to shift my workload around. Typically I work on the outline first and then move on to CGs and try my best to work in chronological order.

That's out the window this month. So basically, I'm reorganizing the order of my work. For example, Outlining is the hardest thing for me as it requires a ton of focus and I normally have at least 3 windows open to move things around and reorder them from the original script. I can only do that on the big screen when it's quiet. I'm not able to do that when the puppy is being high maintenance and I can't do that on a small screen laptop while traveling. So on puppy days, I'm working on CGs or if I'm traveling, I'll be rewriting sections I've already outlined. In other words, I'm having to plan ahead based on my schedule for the next couple weeks rather than going in a typical workflow order.

If you don't watch the progress bar, you're not going to notice anything different around here with the speed. But the biggest obstacle is that my Outlining is getting pushed back and I can't tell you the percentage of completion without knowing what the full Outline entails. So bear with me and I promise it won't slow down. When I'm drained from Outlining, then I just shift over and knock out pictures and recharge while I'm doing that. It's juggling but I'm pretty good with the self-care. Just don't look at my progress bar for like 2 weeks because it's not going to reflect what I actually have done.

Update v0.08 Progress

So I'm already into v0.08 and have the first few scenes outlined, CG'd (is that a word? Can I verb that?) and coded. I also have 2 new animations that I knocked out in one day which is a record. Which means, I'm actually getting faster at this stuff.

That being said, Chapter 4 is bigger than 3 was and way more visually heavy. If you've played the original game, you know a few scenes here were pretty CG heavy. Well... of course I've already complicated that and expanded things way bigger than they were before. Buuuut, so far it looks amazing. If I can knock this weekend traveling plans out, I'll try and get a video recorded next week to show you progress and maybe some teasers. I already have 55 static images done and the 2 animations total 210 frames. I'm working on the 3rd scene today with mixed trepidation and optimism so we'll see how that goes.

Like Chapter 3, I'm likely going to fully outline update v0.08 and v0.09 together so that's going to initially slow down some of update 8 but speed up update 9 (just like the last 2 updates).

Busy Patreon Month

So now that we're all ignoring my Progress Bar, let's talk about other stuff around here. We got the first Shorts set featuring Cody that's dropping throughout the month. Given the number of Patreon posts I have planned this month, I've decided to not drop the Cody set one image at a time like I usually do. I was worried that people would get pissed for getting notifications from me like every friggen day. So Cody pics moving forward are going to drop in pairs with the last set having a total of 3 images. They'll still be paced out throughout the month but a little less busy.

That's because I still have more Teasers to show you for the upcoming merch, plus the FREE version of v0.07 drops on the 20th, aaaaaand I'll be checking in with more DevLogs, CG teasers, or video logs.

It's a lot of stuff so stay tuned.

TLDR:  Basically don't watch my Patreon progress bar this month. Life obligations have me traveling so my workflow is out of order but things are progressing on schedule and it won't affect the speed of development. It's just a different order that's hard to report on
