Hey all,

Basically, I'm looking for feedback or interest in joining a Discord channel based on the game. This may end up being an alternative to Tumblr.  Would you openly be interested in joining or participating in a Straight?! Discord channel?

So WTF Happened to Tumblr?

So for those who don't follow the Tumblr, some quick history: Tumblr was the primary setting for the game blog and was another avenue of communication between game development and fans. Recently Tumblr made a ridiculous decision to eliminate all nudity off their site in an effort to make the site for "happy." While Straight?! contains nudity, the Tumblr site was actually pretty tame with no nudity, but I did establish the site as one that contains adult content, allowing me to post anything that I chose on the blog when it was created. Since the "porn ban" on Tumblr, I've had problems with the blog, including losing pictures, my avatar vanishing and not being able to view my own website because my account is stuck in permanent adult lock. Tumblr has also blocked my account from being searchable because I had originally flagged it as containing adult content. Even worse, Tumblr has locked my ability to change the setting to designate it no longer has adult content. So basically it's completely stuck, unsearchable, and I can't see half the stuff on my own site. It's a mess, it's confusing, and it's frustrating.

I'm disheartened by Tumblr's ban mostly because Tumblr was founded on free speech. Under the guise of making a "happier" Tumblr, they have attempted to eliminate nudity but continue to allow other content like sexism, homophobia, and overt racism as part of their well-thought plan on happiness (Yes, i'm being sarcastic AF).

Why Discord?

Anyway, I've been looking at alternatives and the Discord option was suggested by a follower on Tumblr. Now this has been suggested before and wasn't really a priority then. However, since the Tumblr changes, I feel Tumblr is a less reliable source for communication and bringing the community together. Ironically, Tumblr seems less "happy" than it was before. I certainly don't feel welcome and everything is broken and currently greyed out.  As a result, when Discord was suggested this time, it seems like it made more sense.

For those unfamiliar with Discord, this would allow direct access to game development and there's a mobile app. You could interact with others who enjoy the game, discuss, and give feedback in real-time. This will also be a simple way to submit bug reports or spelling errors so that I can make changes easier. Plus, I'm not gonna lie, I'm not against doing a voice chat or a question/answer if that's something people are interested in. Brings you closer to the game. This is just a few of the ideas but I'm always open to others.

I also want to note that my vision for this is that it is FREE! It will not be limited to Patreon supporters as the vision is to include everyone who enjoys the game whether they choose to financially support currently or not. People shouldn't feel like they have to pay a subscription and it additionally violates the primary vision of this game being donation-based. So access would be allowed by both Patreon and non-Patreon fans.

So let me know what you think. Leave comments or suggestions below, too. I read em all so don't be shy.

I'm kinda excited to. It's a new direction for the game to possibly go in for those who are interested. And for those who aren't, it shouldnt distract me too much or slow things down.
