Since we've talked a lot about Elves and the part they played in their war with the Orcs, and only really had a look at the local tribe that've unwittingly enjoyed the fruits of the now deceased dark wizard's experimentations. Let's go and explore Orcs a bit deeper.

Back in their heyday, the Orcs held their society to a fairly rigid class-based system. Orcs who were in academics married and bred within academic circles, warriors laid with warriors, so on and so forth.

Going outside of your chosen place in Orc society was heavily frowned upon, as Orcs believed we were all born to pursue the truth of existence, and everyone had their strength and weaknesses, and that every person had a roll to fulfil to achieve this ultimate goal of life.

And that obviously, a child born to mathematicians would excel in that field as well, and that they would obviously want to do just that.

Eventually this would lead to a schism between Orcish professions and classes. Warriors, guards, and soldiers in particular, who's ultimate goal was to be the biggest, toughest, strongest, and fastest to achieve ultimate security for the Orcs started eventually deviating from the standard Orc. Though the academics held the highest esteem to Orcs, and the warriors were seen as dumb brutes, handy to have around, but not ones to consult on the matters of the mind, it was hard to argue with them when they selectively bred themselves to be a full head taller than even your standard (quite large) Orc.

These Orcs, almost becoming a race within a race, are now most commonly known as Black Orcs, so named for their darker complexion. Though Uruk is a term oft heard as well.

Ironically enough, after the Orcish empire fell and they were ruthlessly persecuted by the victorious Elves, it was the large and tough Uruks that most survivors of the great purge rallied around. Especially with the Academics, being seen by the Elves as the greatest deviants and heretics among the Orcs, almost gone to the last. Uruks now often occupy the role of chieftain within roving bands of Orcs. Though with the harsh class system gone as well, interbreeding within the Orcish race has been on the rise, and true Uruks have become increasingly rare.
