They went on break for just over a month, their first one since 2013 I believe. They came to talk to us often, Jimin went live the day after they were supposed to be on break.

That was not a hotel, that was their dorm at the time. However, all the members live apart now since their “hiatus”.

So there was an episode 0 where the staff revealed the location for the new season and they also did that for season 3 in Malta and that's why in the beginning of the 1 episode they are talking about what they searched about like the places they wanted to go and things they wanted to see.
