A short progress post today. I've just mapped out the logic cells of 19 columns out of the 36 making up the Konami 007121 chip, meaning that a bit more than half of the first step is done.

The first image shows the cell map in its current state, and how it directly relates to the shiny "fuzz" seen when observing the chip with a naked eye.

The second image shows the cell zoo, as I like to call it. There are currently 35 "species" of cells identified and reverse-engineered. Those are the basic building blocks like logic gates, flip-flops...

Now that the most used cells are identified, it makes me approx. 20 minutes to map a whole column. So completing the map should only be a matter of a few more nights.

Then I'll move on to the next step: tracing the interconnections between the cells. This is what's going to take a LONG time !
