Because I hadn't reached the goals just yet, this isn't the previously mentioned paid post. This is a short progress report about a few things.

First of all, audio. The tempo glitches were due to a typo in Jotego's code, for which I submitted a patch. It caused the timer registers to be corrupt by data intended to be written into other ones, and both timers (A and B) were swapped. Quickly testing a few games gave FM music with correct speed and very enjoyable sound :)

Still about audio, I hooked up the DDR3 memory to hold the sample data and feed it to the YM2610. Right now the samples are being played at the right time and correct pitch but glitches are still common. The sample compression scheme that the 2610 uses can produce very loud screetches even with the slightest data corruption. That's why audio will sound terrible even if there's only one bad contact on a dirty cart.

About the Neo CD, no further progress has been made for now as I only spent time on the audio part and changing the SDRAM memory map to make it less messy. I will try getting some games to start for the paid update, maybe with CDDA if it isn't too much of a pain.

And finally, I extracted 15 dies for the "acrylic resin encased chip die trophy" rewards. All I need now is to settle on a design. I'll get a picture for the next post and see how to rank my dear patrons to know who will get one :p Some dies are bigger and prettier than others.
