Hello all

Another public Design Diary as this does concern everybody and is only a slight design spoiler :). This time it is very focused on the subject of the L: number.  It has been part all three games and will continue to be a fixture in the lower right corner of the UI but the reason I am bringing it up now as there will be slight a change soon.

The L: number was added to Hotel as a way for me track the players progress during development and give support/hints when they were stuck. They were stuck a lot due to a lot of different issues. It is a simple (slightly long) number showing the love/lust/loyalty count for each character. It was so useful that I kept it around for Haven and Horizon.

In Horizon we are getting to a point were the L: number will become slightly silly. The game is bigger. The cast is bigger. The L: number if used in the same way would become a hassle to write down more than it already is.  To avoid this issue I am going to add another element to the UI next to the L: number called the S: number.

The S: number will work in the same way but hold a specific portion of the cast allowing me to sort a bit and clean up the clutter. S in this case would stand for sex/seduction/standing.

There have been a lot fewer help requests for Horizon so I hope my design is improving but in case you would still only need to spam me with the L; number and I would ask for the S: number if needed :)

Have a lovely day
