i screamed when i saw maki on the schedule &team don’t have official positions as most groups nowadays don’t but Maki is considered their main vocalist!

When you compared his voice to Jesse McCartney 🤯 I also felt like his voice sounded familiar I guess in terms of vocal tone and I couldn't put my finger on why and as soon as you said that it all made sense. He would kill Jesse McCartney songs!! Also, OMG was perfect for him haha during fan meets and shows, you'll always see him and Harua do dance covers for gg songs and they do them so well. You can tell they have so much fun with it

i’m not sure if y’all know or remember but maki is mixed (japanese-german) and was in america for a bit if that helps at all

According to Twitter and K-pop wiki, Maki was a child musical theater actor for a few years before &Audition. He has such a mature attitude and boy really *grew* in the last year that it’s easy to forget he’s only 17. They have a full album coming in Nov so I’m hoping to hear a lot of Maki’s voice soon! I enjoyed watching you guys ascend during the songs and I looove Blaire’s outfit ❤️

thanks for the &team drop! maki was actually a musical actor as a child (he was in a theater company when he was around 12?? 13?? not sure but he was a Kid), so he presumably did have prior vocal training before idol training. i think it makes a lot of sense why he's so in tune with his emotions when he sings/good at showing it with his face

So glad you watched this! I think some of that "western swag" comes from the fact that he went to an international school in Singapore when he was younger and probably had more of a "western" influence as opposed to an Asian one. (every Japanese person I've met who went to international school just seem like they're American so that'swhy I think Maki's like that too 😂)
