DP was more recent, until 2021 so I wish it was the coincidence haha but I don’t think so, Prison Playbook was still in 2018–DP is about catching deserters but it caught a lot of spotlight for accurately showing the corruption in the military and the abuse present

From what I can find according to the wiki it just said Minchul was a father figure not sure if it’s actually supposed to be the kid of Jongwon, I just took it as one of those tropes where it’s like reincarnation (lite) of like these young kids that remind Minchul of each other so they just had Seungyoon play both

i really think seungyoon's character thinks minchul is his real father because of the way he always talked about him and either he never met his father or he was like 1 year old when his father got arrested so he doesn't remember him so my guess is that when minchul saw him and realized it was his friend's son he had a sense of responsibility to take care of him and ended up pretending to be his father and he believed it, but yeah they both did an amazing job making you care about their characters and feel their pain this was one of my favorites side stories if not my favorite

The way I took it is that Kang Seunyoon's jean val jean character just strongly resembles min-chul's gang friend and thats why he has such an attachment to him. Also he calls him 'father' as an honorary title/nickname.

the guard decided to change him after seeing the guy who gets crazy for money, cause he saw that people who worked at the woodshop (?) was following his words more than the guard's command. so he decided to change him and put the new guy who is crazy for money. and as for seungyoon i thought he just resembled his friend.
