Cheese-master Jiwoong is unleashed! Yeah I agree this episode does a really good job setting up the conflict of the episode in club hierarchy. I feel like I'm in a decent position to relate to both sides of this drama. Heedo is the kind of person I've always wanted to be but have never felt like I was in the position to do so without fucking things up, so I relate to Yurim in reality because I feel like there's too much that I could lose by pushing people's buttons. My morals line up with Heedo, but I'm also non-confrontational because I feel like there are other ways to get around the issue, like a small pain now and then find a solution after. That entirely depends on the context though and I've generally become more like Heedo over time as my confidence has grown and my shit-taking threshold has gone down. Yurim is definitely wrong and that mindset will not serve her well in the long run, but it's easy to see how she can get stuck in that mindset because I've definitely been in and out of that mindset. The main part of this conflict that sticks out to me though is how each of them views what they already have and what they are desperate for, and I think they're both kind of oblivious to how that can look to people not in their individual positions. Their family backgrounds are opposites, one has a famous well off parent, natural talent, and a dream, whereas the other is relatively poor, and feels like she has worked and suffered much to get what she has and how she needs to maintain it, and that has clearly soured her view on her situation. This show makes an interesting choice to shatter any positive views of Yurim almost immediately before any attempt to really build her character in a more likable way. We know she's generally a nice likable person outside of her relationship with Heedo, but because they're trying to set up this big conflict between them, that part of her, all the jealousy, fear, and stubbornness takes a forefront. It's a really interesting conflict with a lot of nuance already set up this early in the show and I'm curious to see what you guys think about everyone in this show as they develop!

So, Ji woong (the boy who likes yurim) knows Heedo because he talked to her on her first day of school and wanted to know more about yurim. lol Since heedo was on the fencing team he took his opportunity haha but yeah Nam JooHyuk is an amazing actor! Loved him in weightlifting fairy and this one especially. He really shines in the more sad, melancholy moments in this show and really showcased his versatility. Also really appreciate the commentary at the end! Can totally relate to getting my ass beat growing up, especially in my culture. Just like yall said it depends how you respond. Not at all saying its good to get beat up but it made me more disciplined as an adult. lol now I sound crazy, whoops. Dont mind me. Thanks yall.

for some reason i remember the mystery about who Injeolmi was lasted way longer, but it's revealed in ep 3 already? wow haha i guess a lot has happened in this little amount of time.. anyways, very interesting commentary at the end! love how 2521 always brings about discussion!

Not sure if you've watched or heard of Start Up but Nam JooHyuk stars in it as the lead alongside Bae Suzy. I really loved the drama and it's how I first discovered him and got into K-dramas as a whole!

its so interesting to hear your perspective, i wont say as to what specifically, but i'm interested and excited to see how your opinions and thoughts develop as we go on

As someone mentioned, Nam Joo Hyuk did a great job in Start Up with Bae Suzy, my personal favorite Joo Hyuk drama is definitely Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo. Maybe check one(or both) of them out if and when you have time!

The way that it takes everything in my not to get defensive when I see people against Yurim especially since like you I also saw her side from the beginning this journey with Blaire and PD will be fun for us lol

facts! there is so much to her and you can see it from episode one so i don’t get how can people dislike her. i find her more relatable than heedo (i love heedo don’t get me wrong) but there is something so real about yurim more than the other characters.

czennieluvie

Same! I think the reason I can relate more to Yurim is probably because I grew up in a similar environment. My family struggled a lot when I was little so all the nuances in her character I can empathize with. I think she is such a good and well written character. Heedo was the type of person I wish I could be like sometimes. The ability to dream and to do what you want is such a thing that I used to be so envious of people I always felt when I was younger that I wasn't even able to want anything let alone easily get something on a whim. As much as I adore and love Heedo and her journey, I will always have a special place in my heart for Yurim.

you should check out ALCHEMY OF SOULS pd. I think you’ve never checked out a full historial-esque drama here on patreon either. ALCHEMY OF SOULS would be a great addition to drama club. It is INDEED produced by STUDIO DRAGON. You will see so many familiar faces in ALCHEMY OF SOULS, like Shin Seung-ho himeself- Hwang Min-hyun from NU’EST- Arin from OH MY GIRL- Go Yoon jung from SWEET HOME- Yoo In soo from ALL OF US ARE DEAD (the villain) - Oh Nara from SKY CASTLE - Im Chul-soo from VINCENSO - JUNG SO MIN and many more | I'm telling you its really good and RIGHT UP YOUR ALLY.

I remember it being later into the series as well! I'm not sure what that says about my memory though...
