This is a big question for AB's and DL's. In one of my youtube recordings, someone asked me - why I mentioned pull ups in my recordings instead of diapers. For me, I think pull ups and diapers bring up different feelings. Hypnosis is all about bringing up different associations. I think most people have slightly different associations with the two. I associate pull ups with accidents, and diapers with incontinence. The things they both have in common is: losso f bladder (or bowel) control.

If I put someone in a pull up and they have an accident, it really feel like more of an accident. This is because they could have made it, but accidentally didn't!  It seems a bit more embarrassing the person feels bit more blushy. Pull ups are for kiddos who are training to use the toilet. If you're still in pull ups it means you just aren't toilet trained yet (or rather not 100% toilet trained). I see pull ups or other "training pants" with people who like the feeling of having an accident occasionally, rather than full incontinence.

Diapers on the other hand are really for folks who are incontinent. I think there is something very releasing about them. If I put you in diapers, it means I think you really are not going to use the toilet. I think diapers are best because I see that you are most likely going to wet yourself. For those who like blushy, embarrassed feelings - diapers can also bring some of that. Since you haven't been making it to the bathroom, might as well put you in diapers. Diapers can also be for adult babies or diaper lovers who really want to live the diaper lifestyle 24/7. There's a sense of security.

As for age regression - I think diapers are associated with a younger age and younger experience( Infancy, being helpless, not having any control). Pull ups are more for toddlers and young children (playful experiences, trying to make it to the bathroom but failing, having accidents instead of getting to the potty.)

These things are very subjective and everyone has their own opinions! These are just my own thoughts, and why I sometimes include pull ups rather than diapers in my recordings. Either way, the most important thing is the mental experience that you have when you are wearing them or imagining them. Think to yourself - what associations do you have with diapers and pull ups and why? Which ones do you feel most comfortable in?

I plan on being more active with posts in this coming year :)

I definitely agree that diapers and pull-ups symbolize different things. I like how diapers give a feel of “you can’t make it to the potty and are incontinent so you wear diapers. You don’t even need to bother with the potty anymore, clearly you’re not ready”

I love the certainty of diapers. There's no question -- if you're diapered, your fate is sealed. You know it's going to be changed. You know what status everybody now views you. I only explored pull-ups in the scenario where I make an accident (the straw that broke the camel's back) and then the potential freedom that pull-ups gives (the path towards being a big boy & wearing underwear soon) is taken away when she drops the "D" word. Maybe she'll say "it's easier to deal with" -- diapers can be changed efficiently. Tough to argue with her when she has such a strong logical argument.

Yes if you a path to potty training pull ups are the way to go. If however you know you can't be potty trained diapers are the way to go!

Hi There Mommy M! Yesss!! I'm of an earlier generation, when we didn't use the term pull-ups, but rather "training pants". They were usually thick terry cloth, and mom's often covered them with a pair of plastic pants for good measure. Bother are embarrassing, but with training pants there's the expectation that more often than not you'll make it to the potty. The thickness and plastic pants were there "just in case". So if you have a serious accident in training pants you know you've had a relapse. You did something that you should not have, and your mom or sitter are not going to be thrilled with you. Diapers are the embarrassing because they announce to everyone that you are expected to wet or soil yourself. So...Training pants = hopeful; Diapers = hopeless

For me I would rather be in diapers then a pull up because when I regress I regress to a 6 month old infant. Infants are dependent on diapers.
