Tony Curran plays the Irish mob boss from Daredevil Season 2, who hunts and tortures Frank Castle. Frank brutally murders him, which is no surprise.

“The way I see it every life is a pile of good things and bad things, the good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant” One of my fav Quotes and as someone with Depression it has helped me looking back at this quote a few times and made me look at the good things more when I wasn’t neccesarily having many/thinking more about the bad things if you catch my meaning. So yeah honestly top three Doctor Who episodes of all time for me and I love it if you couldn’t tell already. Been counting the weeks down to this episode 😂

^ this, 100% this. And just to add to the conversation about depression in relation with this episode, I’ve always taken the Krafayis as a direct allegory for depression. The notion of being blind, pacing around a room, alone, and invisible resonates with me majorly, and I think the episodes handling of it is sensitive, mature, and respectful of those suffering from depression or other personality disorders. But yeah as Rosie said, love this episode, it’s wonderful.

I just wouldn’t want to step on the turf of the goddess of Doctor Who facts, but if it’s fair game…👀

Such a fantastic episode. Really moving. And I think it’s so important that they did not manage to save Vincent, as that would have implied that you can ‘cure’ depression by doing something great for someone. And that’s not how it works. People can have severe depression even when things appear to be going extremely well for them. That’s the curse of it - it does not necessarily correlate directly to what’s going on in your life. So all that Amy and the Doctor were able to do was add to the pile of good things that occurred in Vincent’s life, without being able to change its ending. And that is something that’s much more mature than people would expect from this type of TV (at least, people who don’t watch it). Glad you guys enjoyed it. Definite standout episode (although it’s not even my favourite from this season!)

This one is brilliant. One of my favorites and so emotional at the end. The Doctor has a sadness the entire episode like he knows nothing they do will change the inevitable end of Vincent’s story, though they definitely add to his pile of good things.

Every time I hear the music begin as they exit the TARDIS with Vincent I start crying, this episode is truly beautiful in it's delicate touch on depression. I can rewatch this episode over and over and over again. Almost my favourite episode of all time!

Maggie

One of my favorite TV episodes ever! Everything about it is beautiful ❤️

This episode to me is a slightly better than average, that ends in one of the most beautiful, and best, scenes of the series. Wouldve been a 7/10,but that ending elevated it to a 9/10

I’m catching up pretty late to the game but Vincent Van Gogh is one of my all time favorite artists, not just because of his art but because of how he used his pain, in spite of his pain, to create beauty. A few facts: Van Gogh was believed to have had borderline personality disorder and manic depression, which they showed well in the quick turn around to happy behavior after his emotional episode. He also was believed to have a form of synesthesia - “chromesthesia” where he can literally see sounds in colors. And he often wrote that it was extremely overwhelming which I’m sure was another reason he painted - to help cope with his everyday life. I’ve seen this episode so many times primarily because it doesn’t have a “happy ending” like you’d expect. Realistically and unfortunately, depression sometimes wins for those truly battling it. It’s a bittersweet ending because the Doctor reminds Amy (and us) that just because the ending may not change, we can make so many beautiful little changes along the way that mean just as much. If I could hug the writers, I would. Thank y’all for not shying away from the discussion of the emotional pieces of the episode. As someone who has lost many people to suicide and depression, this episode reminds me of all the beautiful memories I can choose to remember rather than the bad ones. Not sure if you’ll even read this but thank y’all for sharing these videos with all of us. Your laughs, jokes, cries and love for the art of all things film make my days so much better. Love you guys and hope you are both doing well!

God, THAT scene towards the end always gets me crying. Just so much emotion packed into such a short scene that's compounded by the knowledge of Van Gogh and his life
