Just wanted to take a moment to say a BIG OLD THANK YOU to Mr. Bradley Bledsoe for taking on the Highlights cut this week! Was a HUGE help and I think the cut is pretty friggin' fun. Hope y'all enjoy!!!

Michael B.

You might recognize Rory from Legends of Tomorrow's first two seasons! He was Rip Hunter!

I'm so excited. Moffat's era is my personal favorite of the entire show. You all are in for a treat.

Laura Moore

So hyped!! I’ve been refreshing my feed all afternoon waiting for y’all to drop this! Cant wait to see y’all meet Matt Smith’s Doctor and Amy and Rory

Laura Moore

Thanks Bradley Bledsoe 😁😛

The girl who played young Amy is actually Karen Gillan's niece, so the confusion is understandable. ;)

Since you mention it, Matt Smith has done quite a bit of theatre work. If I remember correctly he did a theatre adaptation of American Psycho, where he played Patrick Bateman, which is oddly great casting for Smith because while he can pull off this wonderful, childish alien he’s very versatile and is an insanely underrated performer.

You’ve actually seen Karen Gillan in this show last season as she played one of the soothsayers in the fires of Pompeii episode.

super excited for this season!

So glad to hear you both enjoyed it. :) It's such a perfect reinvention of the series while also being a natural continuation of what came before.

Finally! We’ve come to meet my Doctor, No one will ever come close to Matt’s Doctor, at least for me. Amy is also one my favorite companions. I’m so excited to see what you guys think of the Moffat era. And when you said it had a Sherlock feel to it, well you should know Moffat did do Sherlock for BBC 😉

Toasted Toad

Glad you both enjoyed it so much. First time I watched it I was too much in mourning for Tennant to enjoy it properly, but on rewatches I love it. I highly doubt the actors get any say in their costumes. Each Doctor has a ‘look’ and it’s discussed almost as much as the casting! Although obviously, costume comes after casting so it is going to be designed around them. You might have noticed that this Doctor’s theme music (personal theme, not the intro) is the most up tempo we’ve had. That contributes to the energy. Plus of course Matt is the youngest Doctor ever cast (in itself a matter of some controversy, especially as the new companion was likewise very young (19 I think) there is a fear of ‘selling out’ - the original Doctors were elderly gentlemen and have becomes progressively younger)

Rosie Batey(DarthYoda066)

I know David got to have a say cos he specifically wanted the converse trainers and I’m pretty sure Matt also had a say with the Bow tie and Peter got a say in one of his accessories so whilst they don’t get a full say they are able to put something they want in with the costume.

Rosie Batey(DarthYoda066)

Also don’t know whether it is said in the watchalong but I’m surprised that Greg didn’t recognise that Jeff is played by the actor that plays Luther in the Umbrella Academy

Toasted Toad

Colin Baker wanted a ‘toned down’ costume, being conscious he was a bit overweight, and instead got the loudest costume ever given to a Doctor. He was not happy.

Maggie

Looked forward to this reaction! Yay for the Matt Smith era!

It might be too early to mention, but this in no way spoils any Doctor Who. Karen Gillian actually got the part of Nebula while still doing Doctor Who. She went ahead and shaved her hair for the part. Kind of in celebration of the part and also to make makeup far easier. The way she revealed this was to show up to San Diego Comic Con (both for Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy) in a wig of her natural red hair only to snatch it off during a panel! It was honestly one of the most badass moments!!! She is such a fucking legend and a hilarious hot mess. At the same time Matt Smith also shaved his head for another roll and the two are honestly such best friend goals they literally went bald together 😂😂😂

Rea

He's my fav Doctor~~~

"Amy Pond, there's something you'd better understand about me, because it's important, and one day your life may depend on it ..... I am definitely a madman with a box."

Great job on the edit, Bradley! However, if I had one minor gripe it'd be that the text popping up is a little distracting - but other than that it's not majorly different from their style which I appreciate!

Joshua-Lewis

Matt Smith chose the bowtie and had a big say in everything else about his costume

thereelrejects

Actually I did! Wasn't kept it in the reaction highlights edit but definitely realized when it came time for his laptop scene haha

Toasted Toad

I love the text popping up! But I appreciate it's not going to be to everybody's taste.

If you guys want a good Karen Gillan movie to watch I'd suggest Not Another Happy Ending. I rewatch that whenever I have writer's block. Definitely worth the watch!

The best introductory episode to a Dr, and probably the best series opener to this point. Watched the series premiere back in 2005 with my step dad. Got through the whole season and wasn't too into it. It wasn't until season 5 came along and I watched those episodes with him that I got hooked into the show, and this episode is a big reason why .10/10
