Oh yes! The supercharged turd is no longer a turd and is on its way to becoming a museum piece!

Say Hallo to the new paint - Azurite Black S34!

As you know, I sent the car to Poland to Artur and Dawid to sort out the paint and upon receiving the car, Artur said the whole car needs to be repainted in order to achieve perfect results.

The car from the factory had that weird mismatched Schwarz 2 paint which to me is the most boring and dull BMW paint. Non-metallic, uni black that's super soft and very difficult to maintain. The thought of repainting the entire car to paint that I'm not going to like just didn't sit well with me.

I kept pushing them for a paint change which is, naturally, more expensive and difficult to do. I really wanted Azurite black for two reasons. Number one; it's a beautiful, gorgeous, stunning deep blue metallic paint under lighting, and two, it's a factory Individual paint for the E65 platform and we are staying within OE parameters.
Now that I see the end result, there's no doubt this was a perfect choice for this car! On cloudy days it looks like normal black paint, but once the sun hits the surface,  dark blue metallic shows its stunning face and the whole car pops. Everyone that's seen the car in person was in awe of how amazing it looks.

Most importantly, Polish guys have done an exquisite job. All of the doors were removed, including door handles, trunk lid, hood, all of the trim, seals, front bumper taken apart again, etc... so all of the jams and crevices were repainted to match the new color. Thankfully, the car was already black so the engine bay remained untouched as even with factory Azurite or other metallic paints, standard black was used there.
The quality of the paint job is factory-like. Mirror finish and no orange peel whatsoever, no imperfections in the finish, no masking lines or anything of the sort. Just a high-quality paint job and I couldn't be happier!

The same can't be said for whoever polished and washed the car in the end, haha. They swirled up and introduced light scratches on the entire car. So I made sure they are aware of that and not to do it next time.
In the end, it's not a big deal as the car is going to Gyeon towards the end of January for the final detail and will be paint-corrected to make it 100% perfect. Then PPF the front end and cover everything in ceramic coating to protect the paint.

We need to wait that long (around 2 months in total) for the new paint to fully cure and gas out before they can start working on it. It's currently still soft hence why it scratches easily.

In the meantime, I can sort out the remaining odds and ends and service the transmission, like we did with the X5.

That's the update on the mighty Alpina B7. I hope you like the new paint as much as I do. As always thank you so much for your support and for contributing to restoring these fine automobiles to perfection!

That looks fantastic, Sreten. Congratulations on choosing such a beautiful color for Project Chicago. The guys in Poland did a magnificent job getting it back to factory condition, and it makes all the difference in the world. I can’t wait to see the finished job once you get all the little things sorted out. You’ve got to agree that even BMW would be proud to see what you’ve done with this turd. You’ve given it a completely new life. Thanks for always giving us the best content, and stay safe, my friend.

If it's not a secret, how much did it cost? Or is that information reserved for the final price breakdown?
