Same difference, someone who lives a long-ass time isn't gonna give a fuck about that distinction. Just a fraction of their life. My point is they experienced way more than humans have, so they have more shit to overshadow other memories. I really don't think it's that serious that he SOMEWHAT forgot about Frieren. Memories get pushed away, simple as that.
