Nice you see you all enjoying this arc. As for Sakamoto (guy with the ridiculous laugh), the first time he meets Gintoki, Takasugi and Katsura is when the war with the Amanto is already underway. Also, thanks for this extra drop.

I can’t let those Shinpachi slander slide😤 When I was watching this arc, I couldn’t believe this was the same Gintama. Ep 305 stays as one of my favorites episodes in anime. That fight hits so hard and when takasugi kept punching gintoki in the face, his pain was so clear. The VA did a great job.

The fact that Gintoki started odd jobs to mask his ptsd makes the comedy ep hit harder. It was in Benizakura arc that Katsura said Gintoki should be angrier then anyone that shoyo was killed but he bears it and continues to smile rather then lash out at the world

gin vs takasugi fight was so raw and full of emotions, it cemented takasugi as my favourite antagonist of all time and made me love gin even more 🥺, you may think that's the end but there are bigger things in store 🔥

It really was a great buildup! Having to wait 300 episodes to see why takasugi is so set on destroying edo for the way it is and what actually happened to their sensei.

Takasugi wanted Gin to take shoyo and leave estimating that he could do it, not as much that he chose a couple over none. A battle of broken promises, hatred, and self-contempt is what this is and I can't blame either tbh. Peak fiction and honestly my #1 or #2 favorite fight in all anime but the other one remains to be seen by yall 👀. Takasugi cemented himself as my favorite antagonist here after just these 2 eps just cause of worachi. more greatness ahead

Gintama is already a good manga/anime. If you want something just serious/just action you got that. Hella options even. I think that the comedy aspect is so important and actually is needed because when you’ve had a life like Gintoki has the silliness/lightheartedness lol is honestly what saved his soul. If Otose didn’t bring him in which led to him creating Odd Jobs he likely would’ve given up on it all. Like it helped him come out of the darkness and get back to himself! Plus it shows how building community/relationships can really be a saving grace in general and especially when thinking about trauma!

The thing with Oboro, is that he and his men literally work for the higher ups. The people in charge of everything, like that green man you saw in the flash back, and of course back in ep 261( end of the castle arc/courtesan of nation) they were even talking about how Takasugi was literally a threat to the country. so he had god reasons to be there, but you probably already know by now 👀 and the next arc...ohh boiii
