I think Echidna was crying because maybe she actually did get attached to the family that she had. Ryuzu sacrificed herself, something happened with Roswaal and Hector, and idk what exactly transpired leading up to Beatrice ending up in the library. But I'm guessing she was jealous and heartbroken at the same time, because even if it's not real, Emilia got to spend time with people she considers family. And maybe also something along the lines of, Emilia is such a pure and innocent and wholesome person, who looks just like the witch who consumed Echidna, which probably stirs up all kinds of emotions in her. Although it could be she wants what she has, because she's the Witch of Greed. Those are my guesses. I'm getting a strong vibe that Echidna has many layers to her character, and I feel like she's more complex than just the greed that she represents.

Also, I kinda like how Elsa actually acknowledged Garfiel as a worthy adversary, that's why she suddenly introduced herself like that, title and full name. Then Garfield did the same, imo it was a hella cool moment.

i think he is somewhat right, each part thats happening is equal value, but people gotta remember that, emilia is equal value of being mc of this story so her getting alot of screen time now for her development is normal some people think 2nd trial was just filler but it was her overcoming her "uglyness" she always seen in her since she forgot what she even looked like, we just see it in subaru POV most of the time
