Imagine my own confusion when i was reading all the iterations of the Higurashi manga LOL. Yes, there is more than one

funkymonk

Well they confirmed this is not a remake. I think you can def still watch and enjoy without seeing originals but you def missing out on some awesome storytelling and a great psychological thriller.

Guess the old saying of Rock beating Scissors is true. I still find it hard to believe that after all of this, there's still 20 episodes left. So I'm doing something interesting since I've never seen the original series, which is watching this (Gou) along with the original Higurashi and it's been very interesting to say the least. Alot of the events are the same while A LOT of it is different as well. The animation and overall creepy/horror elements are superior in Gou, but the character interactions along with the plot structure and explanations are done better in the original so far.

Narutofreak94

Oooh would you guys be interested in checking out the original?

reanimated

I'll probably go back and revisit the original. I don't want to possibly spoil something with this one.

reanimated

Yeah for sure, probably after this though just in case there's something to possibly spoil any future events

funkymonk

This is spoiling the original massively, anyone whos seen original knows this is a sequel, they just pretending it isn't.

Poet

honestly tho like what they revealed in the second episode made me legit angry because they just gave away the plot that explains half the story it would be better if they just watched the original now because they wouldn't be spoiled but still have all the really creepy disturbing scenes that made higurashi so memorable

Chaolao

I heard that this show actually isn't a sequel at all, from Chibi Reviews channel.

Kurumi

at first maybe but with the way this ep just ended its a sequal no doubt.
