Hello pretty people.

I have a question for all the Patrons that are interested in getting commissions. Especially newly pledging ones (6 months or less), but everyone can participate of course.

Here are my patreon commission guidelines that describe how my Patreon Commissions work (priority points system and all): https://goo.gl/YmRxW2

My question is:

"Do you understand how the points system works?"

Cheers,

For me what i understand is that the highest points ppl win, simple as that

BBCchan

And this is correct. However there's more nuances like amount of points you gather each month, the wait list and how many months you need to wait till you will get a commission slot, etc. I just hope people read "the fine print". :D

I will say I get it. It's pretty detailed so at first I wasn't sure. Even then I just wasn't sure if you could save up for more than 1 slot. Like if you wanted something longer than the 3 hours or just wasn't sure if it would take that long.

Understanding the system is one thing. Understanding the impact (how long will I probably have to wait) is another, much harder, thing.

BBCchan

It's already been in place since 2 years ago. Every patron is part of it.

And this is my main concern, yeah. I will make some changes to it and rehash the guidelines so that things are more clear especially in regard to wait times.

I understand the rules well enough, but since I feel some streamlining would do them good I still voted #2. And as one poster mentioned above, a general Idea about wait times would be nice. When I first applied for a permanent slot and I got the "two years waiting list" reply I was taken by surprise. So right now, ever getting a nice commission is more like a small long-term dream thingy.

BBCchan

The problem with waiting times is that they constantly change. I'm working towards a better points system, that will shorten that wait time for new patrons at least a bit.

Seems like a lot of extra effort, and I don't want to take the time to understand it. It actually makes me a little less interested in your work. Would rather have a random selection for a free drawing, or just regular commissions even if your rates are higher due to demand.

Read through it all and even had a veteran patron explai buts to me and it still confuses me.

With over 700 Patreons you can't please everyone equally. The fact that you've already implanted this system shows that you try to please a maximum of patreons and the fact that you're still asking if people understand it shows that you do care for even the newest patreon. Like 2 above mentioned I understand you points system but the question of how long it'll take still lingers. If you manage to find a way to streamline the wait-list then I'll only suggest you pattern that system and sell it to other artists ;) Am also waiting for the change of a commission from you ^^ Thanks for being considerate of your patreons.

I think I understand the system just fine and really appreciate the fact, that you try to give everyone a real chance (and not like ‘ok surprise commission time, first 5 patreons to comment will get one NOW’). But looking at the data I feel like the "penalty" for getting a commission isn't big enough still. Also the fact that waiting time isn't really plannable is kinda discouraging. I think I asked to be on the perma list in January or so and you yourself estimated I might be up in October or so. Right now I think I might be lucky if I'm up there next October (and that's still kinda fine). But I think all of this just shows this whole thing grew much bigger than you thought. It's not like you were on hiatus for 2-3 months or anything, the list just got massive.

BBCchan

And this is exactly what I'm going to change very very soon. Starting January 2020 actually. More info to come.
