tumble-weed 😎

just me

Listening to this with my kids and loving it. I have a funny story that I'm not sure you'll mention. I love in South Dakota and just last week (very end of April) was the first week WARM enough to encourage gardening. I found a Russian thistle along a side of my house that had been covered in feet of snow for most of the winter. It was one of the last places to lose snow. When I found it, it was over a foot tall! It must thrive growing in winter! Also, because the stem breaks off so easily the roots are STRONG and THICK. I couldn't get at the roots well because it was embedded in the concrete! The roots had to be at least an inch across! So I'll keep picking the plant itself, but until I can kill the roots it'll keep growing. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Also, there are very few things in my life as memorable as driving I-70 through western Kansas on a windy day in December, being constantly bombarded by tumbles. I was glad that the semis broke up the larger ones, which we then drove over with some trepidation. Those thorns can eventually work their way into tires, too! A usually VERY boring drive along a VERY boring stretch of interstate turned into a game of Dodgeball at 80-90mph! 😆
