The models that describe where electrons are in space like the Bohr Model or the quantum orbitals are just simplifications that are correct unless you ask too specific questions. The orbital model does not help when asking: “when will the diode fail to be a diode?” Quantum Mechanics can give you a precise statistical analysis but a breakdown voltage is more helpful.
