Don't worry you got a pretty good read on what's going on, and a lot of things will get some further clarification in the next few episodes. A small detail you may have missed since it's only about a second long during the flashback to Ryoko acquiring the mirror relic they briefly showed a young Kanade implying that was the noise attack incident from her backstory.
