Hi everyone!

This week showcases progress started on one of the two big features I was talking about. So let's get into it:


1: What's New?

This week was spent back into Unity and working at the scripting and code level to create new systems for player character progression.

All things considered I got solid progress started on it! So far we have actions within the world earning and collecting experience points. Which is reflected via both a message pop-up above the character when earned.

As well as an overall experience bar at the bottom of the screen UI to show the progress to earning the next level-up!

Actions taken to earn experience include:

- Defeating Enemies

- Freeing Prisoners

- Opening Chests

- Discovering Lore

- Punishing Cultists

Once you've collected enough experience points, you earn a skill point. Skill points will be used to improve your character!

I also got started on the framework for a new UI screen that will allow you to pick what to level-up on your character. It's very basic at the moment but the logic to get the screen to appear cleanly is there!

2: What's Next? 

Next week I'll be working on the skills and powers themselves. These will start out pretty basic, but as the games development progresses they'll be an opportunity to stick in more unique skills and abilities. But to temper expectations the first release will include being able to level up stuff like the amount of health you have and damage towards the enemy.

There's a bit involved in all this as I'll be doing back to aspects of the character that are currently static values and making them changeable!


So there we go! Early days into this system but interesting none the less.

Nice! I wonder what unique skills/abilities the final version will have. Would love to be able to play with the cultists more directly!

What would be super nice if there were tickle actions with machines or that you were frozen and tickled while doing something like that I would celebrate mega
