Hi Everyone!

I got some fun animated art to showcase today so let's get into it!


1: What's New:

The focus for this week was on getting started on the tentacle trap "Encounter"

What's Encounters?

Encounters are any event in the game where the dungeon navigation stops and the player interacts with an animated sequence. 

There are obviously time and work intensive to make but they deliver on making fun and up-close showcases in the game.

In this Encounter: it's the player character bound and teased by tentacles that comes out of a trap tile on the floor.


There's two variants at the moment:


Fully Clothed:

And Naked:


In terms of what was done this week:

  • Making all main encounter artwork and layering it for export into unity.
  • Rigging it up and animating it in Unity.
  • Creating the logic to trigger the trap in-game. Including the UI transitions.


2: What's Next

Next week is creating the gameplay, more UI, and more artwork for this trap encounter. Which will involve:

  • Making gameplay to defeat the trap.
  • Deactivating the trap that was stepped on in the dungeon.
  • Making penalties for failing to defeat the trap.
  • How to transition the player character from clothed to naked.


If I can make the trap gameplay ready by the end of next week I'll push out a new build with it featured in there. But it might take longer. We'll see on that one.
