Hi, This is Muchi.

The other day, a group of friends and I visited a remote island where the last coal mine in Japan was located.

It is a small island located near the westernmost tip of Japan called "Ikeshima". We saw the remnants of the coal mines that once served as a base for many people seeking coal deep beneath the sea floor.

Coal mining in Japan is no longer conducted due to its extremely high cost and lack of competitiveness, and the mines have been abandoned. However, the technology has been exported to the rest of the world.

The highlight of the tour was the housing complex where thousands of people who worked on the island lived at the time. The buildings, barely used for 22 years, reminded me of something out of a movie.

The most amazing thing is that there are still people living in this part of the island.

The best part of the tour was not only the scenery, but also the opportunity to hear the stories of the people who still live here.

There are still about three students living in this school and more than a dozen teachers.

We will surely never know what they feel about living on this island. But I think I saw something very moving.

Well, the excavation here seems to be going well!

Perhaps men still like to dig!😁

We are almost there!👍
