ok, so lets play a game.

this is jill. jill is a character that is very popular right now with the DAZ community. people get lots of views cause she is a known and well liked character. so makes sense to use her. these are all 3d renders done in daz.

now my question is, how many different artists did i use up here to create this collages. is it 1? is it 8? or is it something in between?

now when people talk about AI, they say, "this is not your work. if i use the same prompt as you i get the same results". which i agree with. but i dont see a problem there, which other people seem to have. cause to me, i know no one can tell me how many different artists there are up here. these are all the same, all daz renders, all using the nvidia render engine, all using the same character. yet this is somehow not a problem, but using AI is. and the more im having this discussions with people the more i get to the point, that people dont really have a good understanding of what digital art exactly entails. even when they do it themselves.

now i could be completely wrong, but the way i see it, digital art, is a way of expressing yourself by using external software to create an image (or a 3d print or an animation). we not drawing lines, like traditional artists do. we use software to draw that line. wither that is a 3d render, photoshop, or now AI. and with that, cause we use software, the line that i created, can be created by you as well, as long as you know how i set it up and which settings i used. so that goes for a simple line made in photoshop, but also for a fully complete AI generated image. or for using a (smart)filter inside adobe software, or setting up a gloom effect inside a daz render. we will always have the same results as long as we use the same settings and same content. yet, somehow people find it all wrong when they talk about AI and find it perfectly fine everywhere else, which is really weird to me, cause isnt all the same thing?

now please, im not calling out anyone in particular. i just think this is a discussion we really need to have, cause together we decide what the future looks like, so lets make it a good one together!

To be fair your examples about "what is art", I wouldn't call this things art too! ^^' I have a very simple defintion about what art is for me, art is work sometimes really tough work and if you don't have to work for it, it is no art. I've already read that some AI companies have already given in and changed their data sets and so on. If I understand it correctly, if you try to take pictures from an artist for which there are no data records in the AI, the AI deliberately introduces errors or they are modified so much that it has nothing to do with the original material anymore. But you should still be able to use your own stuff, maybe they will changes there policies in the future, who knows, they still fine tune it and thats a good thing. Unfortunately, this doesn't undo the damage done so far, and it doesn't really change anything as long as the older AI versions remain. I'm really not against the use of AI, I'm really just against how they implemented it and that there must be consequences for them. I've been really busy with AI for the last week and had to realize that the AI isn't as perfect as I thought, especially not when there's no template. I'm currently having fun turning my stuff into an anime style, unfortunately there seems to be only one art style in this area that has already been worked out. That's why I'm thinking about creating an AI for myself and filling it with my own data sets to have my anime style for my 3D pictures/comics. ^^ You're using Stable Diffusion, aren't you? Do you have a good guide on how I can install this on a Windows PC? I would like to test how well my PC can handle it before I go to the work of creating my own. I'm currently playing with Dezgo, because it's allowing to do adult stuff with the anime style. ^^'

This is a very complicated issue. I can’t help but think about people being upset about the printing press or digital art programs like paint and photoshop when they first came out. I’m sure many people felt upset about emerging technologies changing the way art has been created over the years. Certainly there are lengthy discussions to be had about training models but the ai technology is advancing so quickly I’m not sure this will endup being an issue. The reality is AI is here to stay, and those who embrace it early will certainly get criticism but it is quickly becoming an integral part of not only art but many other disciplines. From what I can tell Nishi is on the cutting edge willing to explore new technologies in order to express their visions with higher and higher quality. To quote a band - To defy the laws of tradition is a crusade only of the brave. I personally think its great that they are exploring this technology as it clearly helps them express their creative vision just like daz and other software applications. I am personally exploring AI to assist with software development, game development and other areas. I find t to be a valuable useful tool, like the paint brush, internet and others befoe them. I could discuss this indefinitely but I’ll end it here. - Cheers

the problem is, the rest of the world sees it as art. a lot of modern art, is not about afford anymore. there is a huge part of modern artists that is just pumping out crap after crap. and i think with AI now here too, this will only get worse. this will have scary downside too. since the big companies can control how much of the new art will come out now. they will have full control over what is viewed and what isnt. so if they want to hype something up, they will create less "new" things, so the thing they want to promote will have more exposure. other side is true as well. if they want to keep something quiet, just bombard everyone with a bunch of new content and by doing so, you can hide any information you want, since its impossible to find anything between the new content. its really interesting to see where this will all go. i do know, since this is the beginning of it all there will be some huge problems arising in the near future. big companies will do what they always been doing, so shit will happen. the question is, how big will they fuck things up. im not to worried about how you or me are going to use AI. its what the big companies are going to do if you want to use stable diffusion locally you will need a buffy graphics card, with more then 8gb of ram. anything less will be really frustrating to work with. this is the one i followed to install stable diffusion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onmqbI5XPH8&t=7s&ab_channel=KevinStratvert also if you want some other checkpoint to use inside stable diffusion https://civitai.com/

it is a complicated topic. there is so much potential with how we can use and implement AI. and it can go both ways, either good or bad. the scary thing im seeing now, and just realizing this yesterday, is these online AI image creators, is a learning process on its own too. midjourney and DALL-e are documenting everything that is created and prompted. so, the next thing we going to see is that that information is being used right back at us. if they know exactly what people are prompting, they can automate that. and with that comes control from the big companies. so, i dont think we should worry about how you or me are going to use an AI. what we should be worrying about is how the big companies are going to use AI.
