Okay, i know this will sounds like a panic, and I really hope this is panic, but I afraid all goes to military mobilize and martial law...

We will know tomorrow about it, but today I have to seriously think about what to do...
If shortly, this means that they will able to break into your house and take you away.
Or to kill, if you don't want to cooperate.
Also this means that everyone who will act against war will considered as a treason.
This is extremely serious thing, and our country already saw period like this...

Taking this into account, I just have to think about way to escape...
As citizen of St.Petersburg nearest way for me is Estonia or Finland.
And here I want to ask:
I understand it sounds very arrogant but... If I have anyone from this countries... would you be able to help?
If I will able legally across the border I just don't want to be alone...

I hope all this will never happen, but I have bad foreboding /)_(\

I do live in Finland, and there is room in my apartment. I just live on Western part of it, and I could reside you temporarily, maybe. Long term wouldn't work though, I'd guess.

Sadly can't help with location. But I might offer a bit of advice? I'd imagine if things get that far, there would be tight scrutiny on border crossing. If you do need to leave, go somewhere more remote, but still within the country. Vyborg or Kingisepp possibly? That way, it doesn't come off as 'fleeing the country'.

Plus analytics said that most likely government will requisition our money so even if all works at this moment I will not transfer it to my Card. Not yet at least.... Sorry, cannot offer a place in finland or estonia. The bare minimum I can offer you is that I'm going to drive with a car to Estland and help you out if you need to travel anywhere else in europe. Of course I could take you to Austria.. but I'm not sure that this is going to help you in any way. I could even organize a place to live or sleep (room in our house or maybe any other solution), but I just think that Austria is far away for you, I understand you want to stay nearby St. Petersburg.. you need to decide. Hope you find a way out of this misery! And that you get help you're going to need or which fits your needs.

Sorry to say this, but as far as I know from the news, the russian authories already started to turn back ppl from the border if they cannot prove they want to return to the country. If your country introduce martial law and many ppl want to flee, this might change, but at this point you best bet is to wait. What you can do is to move as close to the border as you can, so in case of time to act, you can be among the first ones. Usually acting fast could makes a lot of difference. In worst case, Ukrain already offered amnesty if you surrender, so you still have options not to fight even if you are taken. You can also check how hard is to flee to China or India, what might be less suspicious to the authories, and might be more doable. Sadly the EU is quite a hard target for you at this moment, if you want to leave legally. In an case, take care and hold on!

It is not so easy to surrender. I thought about it... Just imagine situation you are on a battlefield and want to surrender. If you will run to Ukrainian troops you can get a shot to your back from russian fanatic. Or you also can get a shot from Ukrainian soldier who, obviously, can't read your thinking. You can be killed by a bomb while in an armored car. Let's assume you ran to the Ukrainian soldier and it was successful, What if this Ukrainian soldier is a father who saw a die of his Children/Friend? Will he able not to kill you? I don't sure... Anyway at this moment I really think that be near to border is most easy way for me... But I still hope I will find way to legally cross the border... Or... if Russia will attack NATO.... so, I will run to finland...

I'm so sorry Vad, this breaks my heart but I have no way to help other than monetarily, and I know the Russian economy's not in a good place right now. I really hope you can find some safe place to weather this storm, and I hope that it all ends soon... unfortunately I don't think that will happen until a certain world leader is deposed...

Hi Yakovlev, I really don't know what to say, I'm just very sorry for what is happening and your whole situation. I am in Italy, and if you will ever find yourself here all you need to do is to just contact me and I'll offer all the help possible. Regarding money, and I can't believe I'm saying this since I really hate it, maybe it would be better to convert some of it in cryptos if you are afraid you might not be able to access your money in the future. Or maybe find a trusted person abroad to send him a bit of money to keep safe.

Unfortunately, I'm in the US, and the only people I know that far globally are either in Ukraine or Russia, so that is not going to help in the slightest. If you escape and find yourself in the Mountains of the West, I could physically help, but there's not much I can accomplish that far out.

If it looks like the Iron Curtain is about to come down, you should exit to Finland, regardless of whether you have something set up yet on the other side. The international community can continue to help you there in a way they won't if you stay.

Unfortunately, I'm on the other side of the world. But I can also help financially, if there's a way to get funds to you. As someone who's lived through something similar I'd like to provide advice, but I was a bit too young to have anything specific that'd be applicable. And it was a different world back then... All I can think of right now is do as much research as you can on whether you need a Visa, or whether they accept asylum for your current circumstances. Each country will be different. Carry enough documentation/ID to prove where you're from. They've opened up a lot for Ukrainians claiming asylum, for obvious reasons. I've looked around and haven't seen news about opening up for Russians claiming asylum, but I suspect they'll eventually do that, as the number of political prisoners in Russia grows. About martial law, my advice is to remember that there's many more citizens than military. This means while they CAN do many terrible things, they'll also be very busy. So they key is to stay calm, be non-threatening. Cooperate, even when you feel it's unjust. Don't give them an excuse to do any more than they're already doing. Good luck, and stay safe.
