This morning I've been replacing Michiru's eyelashes and hair, making micro-tweaks to her face, and adding some extra detail to her jacket like a zipper (the zipper is just an IMM brush that comes with Zbrush, no reason not to use it unless you have a very specific pull-tab shape you want).

Eyelashes and hair a really important as far as I'm concerned; hair frames the face and eyelashes frame the eyes. If I see line breaks in reference art I attempt to add them into my eyelashes, mimicking paint or ink strokes instead of trying to make "realistic" lashes.  I ditched my rough hair piece and used an edited cylinder to form more crisp "blades" of hair in order to better get the shapes from the official art. I am not satisfied with her face yet, still pushing and pulling on things to make it perfect. I opened her mouth so I won’t get errors when I bake maps. I put in some teeth I just re use on models all the time, though I may make new custom teeth for her.

When I get to this stage I'll usually just keep tweaking and occasionally looking at reference (in this case anime heads) to get the right level of appeal. Its also worth looking at your character in different materials or renders, I just did a quick cell shaded BPR render at the end.
