After doing a short anatomy pass I decided to start an early retop, partially  to make the model easier to deal with and partially just to get it over with because I hate doing it XD.

I always approach topology by putting in mandatory loops: loops around the eyes, around the mouth, a loop that goes from the bridge of the nose to the chin, a racoon mask loop around both eye loops, a loop that separates the jaw from the rest of the head. Once I have these I fill the gaps. Sometimes I'll bring things back into zbrush because polygroups make it so much easier for me to see what's going on: in this instance I decided to make some edits to the width of some of these loops.

I use a similar simple to complicated method on the body, just doing basic square polys on the arms and legs and placing loops that go around and over the shoulders.

Also please excuse the nudity even though its SFW. To make a character in 3d you really have to make their body and then build the clothes on top. Hope no one minds this.
