Hi friends!

During our Januwrimo Stream #2, after the D100 rolled a 5 and then a 19, we jokingly decided to do a 97-minute sprint as the largest prime number under 100 possible.

(Actually a super productive 97-minute sprint!! Even if it did start as a joke lolol.)

Of course, this then spawned an idea train:
What if we did a whole stream of prime numbers?
What if we did it on a specific day that was prime (based on YYYYMMDD)?
What if we had a bingo board or specific prompts or other fun games we could challenge ourselves to?

Some of the ideas were more reasonable than others, but I wanted to pick your brains on the specifics!

First, some math:

If we do EVERY prime number under 100 as a "sprint," that would be 1,060 minutes, AKA 17.67 HOURS of sprinting across the stream. (So the "prime day" aspect needs to be sort of tossed out the window, because this will be more like a 24-in-36 thing, where we're doing it for two or three days back-to-back.)

I'd also like to keep the sprints random, so that we're not ascending/descending to a certain number and instead will leave our fate up to the Wheel Spinner! I hope that keeps all the sprints feeling fresh if we could potentially have an 89 then a 23 then a 2, you know?

Now the closest "Prime Number Day" would be February 19th (20240219), but unfortunately I won't be able to do it over that weekend since both of my brothers will be in San Antonio. (I am very excited to see them though, it's been a long time since the entire family gathered together!)

The next closest "Prime Number Day" is March 23rd, followed closely by March 27th. But these also feel sort of far away?? Like do we want to wait for a Saturday in late March? IDK.

I'll leave all the weekends I'm free as options down below and y'all can vote to help decide! (I'm taking my doggos to the vet this coming weekend, and then in February there's Tết and my brothers coming into town. By the time we factor all those in, maybe the 23rd of March doesn't feel so far away?? Bahahah.)

(Please vote for any weekend you're available and would like to participate in.)

Another question I have for y'all: Do you want to keep this a Patreon-only event or host it over on Twitch, where we might have more people participate? I'm happy either way! So many wonderful ideas and writing experiments are born here that if y'all wanted to keep this event a little cozier, that would work for me too! :)

Finally, we mentioned a couple writing challenges and games. The "six word story" is a popular flash fiction concept, maybe we just twist it a little to be a Seven Word Story?? Bahaha. Then we could submit and share them at the end, even! :) This could also work well with haikus if people wanted to play around with poetry! :)

If we submit them anonymously, I'm also happy to send them out and people can vote on their "favorites" to win a little gift card to their local bookstore or preferred tea place or wherever. :)

And if you'd like to suggest anything for our bingo board, I'd love to hear it! We already came up with some fun ideas ("7 water refills," "5 stretch breaks," "3 hot beverages," "2 location changes," etc.) but we definitely need some more to finish filling up the board! :)

Okay, I think that's it. Once again, thank y'all for always encouraging my strangest ideas and hopping aboard the train with me. It is much more fun to be in this together. 🚂

And finally, a couple other quick reminders, unrelated to Prime Writing Weekend!:

As mentioned on last night's stream, I'm going to go live for my Friday 10K (where the goal is to write 10,000 words and walk 10,000 steps bahaha). So be on the lookout over on Twitch.

And don't forget we have our final Januwrimo stream of the month AND our book club chat (Crafts & Drafts!) on Monday the 29th, starting at 7:15am. The book club chat will be near the end of the stream, so hopefully the timing isn't tooooooo early for most of y'all.

Okay, okay, I think that's it!

Thanks everyone, hope to see y'all soon, and happy writing!!

I think if it's on Twitch, having it open to everyone is a good idea. However, if past is prologue, open streams on YT lead to so much chaos that I think it'd make sense if that was Patreon only.

Yes definitely thinking we'll keep it to Twitch based off feedback! 100% agree that mass YouTube gets a little too crazy.

I prefer YouTube because I don’t have a twitch. But I’ll definitely get one if needed lol question: will you be posting again on YouTube?

You asked this before I went over and published my video on YouTube -- but YESSSS. Hoping to be back and active-ish with videos. Hoping to film three this month. :)
