Hey, hey everyone!

The first in the "forcing one of y'all to do a crazy, silly writing experiment alongside me" is COMPLETED!

The incredible Ash @agingerwrites has posted up her video, so I just want to shout that out HERE.

(Also thank you to Ash for letting me know that I uploaded THE WRONG VIDEO the first time, omg. The most gentle reminder to always double-check everything bahaha.)

January's challenge was to get up early (5 a.m. for me, 4 a.m. for Ash because, to quote her, she's "a glutton for punishment") and do a single writing prompt BEFORE we began any other writing for the day.

The hope was to kind of get the ball rolling each morning, not be paralyzed by our WIPs, have fun with a story that "doesn't matter," and see if anything might spark our imagination for a longer project.

In the end, I had an INCREDIBLE time with this experiment (not the 5 a.m. part though, lol) and am very on board for more writing prompts in the future.

Let me know if y'all have a favorite writing prompt website/book/Instagram, etc.! I'd love to check more out. Spoiler for the video, but Ash gave me my Friday prompt off the list she found and used from Writer's Digest.

And if you still want to challenge me to a writing experiment (that you must also be willing to adventure alongside me bahaha), you can do so here.

Thanks everyone, I'm about to leave for Dallas now, HAPPY WRITING!

The 5 a.m. Writing Prompt Challenge (with @agingerwrites)!

Okay, this might be one of my new favorite writing experiments??? I'd highly recommend everyone try a variation of this writing prompt challenge (minus the early mornings lolol)! 0:00 Why 5 a.m., but more importantly, why writing prompts? 1:56 Day 1 and making my list of prompts 4:10 Day 2 and an early failure lol 5:56 Day 3 & 4 6:23 My co-experimenter gave me my prompt! THANK YOU ASH FOR USING YOUR D100 FOR GOOD. (And sharing my prompt-based "story.") 13:03 Thoughts after the experiment! Prompts are FUN and why we need more of that when writing long-form WIPs. ☟↓ QUESTIONS FOR YOU BELOOOOOW! ↓☟ D I S C U S S I O N Q U E S T I O N S : When was the last time you used a writing prompt? How often do you use them? Have you ever tried challenging yourself to write a set amount for a specific number of days? (I know lots of people will do a Prompt A Day during NaNo?) If you've read The Artist's Way, what were your thoughts?? (I might make a separate video about this later bahaha. I'm still sorting through some feelings.)
