It's time for a big writing experiment! Here are my most popular "I Tried Writing Like" routine videos:

Now I want to know, who I should try ACTUALLY writing like. And by that I mean, imitating their style.

For additional context, this will be a week-long experiment (maybe even two). My goal is to:

  • Read several of their books/short stories to get in the zone.
  • Copy specific passages each morning (so the physical act of typing out a few paragraphs over and over)
  • Write a short story in "their style." This doesn't necessarily mean their genre, but probably will.

My favorite part of analyzing work is seeing how writers "break" conventional rules to create their own flow. So I think this experiment will be a lot of fun and also help me fine-tune my own style by figuring out what I do/don't like.

So let me know who you think I should try writing like!!

(Maybe next time I attempt this experiment I'll go with some older classics, like Jane Austen,  where the popular style of the time was a lot different from now too!)

Suggesting Joe Hill for a future experiment of some sort! He's Stephen King's son and has a range of works that are as unique as his father's.

Seconding Joe Hill for a future one. I love his writing style.
