(Quick, unrelated-to-this-post note, I'll be sending out my horror short story to the first round of betas later today!)

OKAY. So I have a fun, month-long challenge that I think would be perfect for September. It's another one where I think we could all participate together too. BUT before we can do that, I was hoping I could gather up some suggestions from y'all.

Please comment down below and let me know, what's your favorite:

  • poem, poet, or book of poetry,
  • short story or short story collection,
  • place to find and read essays or articles!

I recently read Zen in the Art of Writing by Ray Bradbury and he recommends reading a poem, essay, and short story every day. I've also really enjoyed following along ShayWithThaHobbies' #RayBradburyChallenge livestreams, so you may be able to guess where this ~writing experiment~ is headed bahahaha.

Thank you all in advance!!

Stopping by woods on a snowy evening by Robert Frost. It's my favorite poem. :)

"The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" by T.S. Eliot is my all-time favorite poem. The line "I have measured my life in coffee spoons" just speaks to me. I'm also always half in love with John Keats, as he is half in love with easeful death. Emily Dickinson has so many nice, short poems too. As far as modern poetry, Button Poetry has a ton that are amazing. They have a ton of them recorded by the poets too, so those are worth a watch. Olivia Gatwood's "Ode to the Women on Long Island" made me cry and feel so many things. Sabrina Benaim's "Explaining my Depression to My Mother" as well. I also really like Tom Kimmel's "The Sweetest and the Meanest" because it's about Southerners and I got to meet him during an internship. As far as short stories, I recently read the collection A Universe of Wishes and it was really nice.
