Alright y'all! I'm about halfway through Neil Gaiman's MasterClass now! It has been so absolutely wonderful and I can't thank y'all enough for recommending it AND voting on it as one of my experiments (what feels like forever ago bahaha).

Having just finished his section on short stories, I was inspired by what he said and got a few ideas for experiments I could do this month.

For additional information:

100 word mega short story weekend: Neil Gaiman once wrote a 100 word short story. (He shared it in his MasterClass!) And I thought it would be fun to see how many I could write, revise, and edit to be THAT short but still feel like a complete story. Would also maybe take random suggestions for tone/theme/character/etc.

100, 750, 3000 word short story challenge: I thought it would be cool to see what differences there would be if I took the same exact concept and expanded/contracted it to hit these different word counts. Would the very short pack more of a punch or would slightly more building add greater depth??

1 idea, 1 short story, 1 novel outline: In one of Neil's case studies, he shows how he might expand one of his short stories he wrote to fit an entire novel. I think it would be cool to take the one idea, write the short story, and then fill out an entire outline and see what new characters/concepts are added while still staying true to the intent.

Let me know what y'all think and I'll check back at the end of the week for the winner! THANKS EVERYONE AND HAPPY MAY!🌻

I love all of these, though I’m slightly more biased towards 100 word stories ‘cause I used to write them and they were all super fun to work on. I’ll definitely write more of them in the future.

Can I just vote for all 3, please? They all sound like they would make great writing experiment videos.

I am doing 4 different stories based on the same first line all in different tenses. (Got it from Amy Tan’s MasterClass) Also, I finished the Neil gaimen one two days ago

I voted fir number 2, but then, I think it would be cool to take one of the short stories from either 1 or 2, and do 3 with it.

I shamelessly love all of these! But I love the first and the third idea best!

All these ideas sound like they would be great experiments! I voted for one, but it would be cool to see a video for each!

Ohhh I’d like all three but I voted for the last. If I could I‘d put the first on 2nd place ☺️

I deeeefinitely wanna see you outline! 😂

I think the idea of going through the process of picking the idea, then outlining and writing and sticking to a word count would be a really interesting dilemma....
