Hi folks!

We've shared a poll regarding the new sprites with you last week - I think it's time to show you some results.

So! Starting with the questions regarding the style:

Most of you seem to like the general direction of the reworks. The opinions are a bit more polarised and evenly split when it comes to eyes, with a generally slight preference for the rework style.

The opinions look a bit different when it comes to a new sprite re-done in the old style. Despite the preference for the new style in the previous questions, here a slight majority of people seem to prefer Haku's attempt at re-creating the lineart and shading of a new sprite in the old style. The results here are a bit puzling to us, honestly, and we're not sure how to interpret them.

Now, moving on to individual sprites!

It looks like there are some people unhappy with the new Arne - I've seen comments about a stiff pose and lack of depth with less shading on the face of the new sprite. Generally the opinion is pretty positive, though.

Arvo got mixed opinions. I agree with some of the comments and I think he needs some changes, mostly to body language, to make him look more in line with his character.

Bjorn got rather positive opinions - I'm very happy with this rework personally!

Similarly with Dan, no big complaints, the ones we got touched on brighter colours and the style.

Similarly with Devon, though I have some comments of my own and I think I'd like to see some changes implemented.

Gudrun received very positive opinions.

Most of the people were very happy with the new Jorgen - I think he's a cutie to behold, but we could work on his shape a bit maybe.

I think the results here say it all! Klaus is maybe the most positively received rework.

Lake got more negative votes - their sprite is quite a departure from the previous one, and while I feel positive about it, maybe we'll think of something like a front-facing pose at aq later moment to make them more appealing to those of the readers who weren't happy with the rework.

Mikko received very positive opinions, though I feel like his clothed sprite is a tad too bulky and he could look better with a front-facing pose.

Rune is the one sprite where the opinion is the most split, even if still in favour for the rework. We'll have to think very seriously what to do with him - we want to give him a build similar to Bakemonoy's shower illustration so he definitely will get more bulky than his old sprite, but maybe not as much as the version presented in the poll. We could also work on the pose, expression, ears - it'll be hard and we know we won't be able to make everyone happy, unfortunately.

Definitely one of the better reworks, Torulf got a fantastic reception.

Similarly with Travis!

Now that we have the results, I'll have to sit down with Haku and discuss the course of action. I hope I'll get back to you with something new to show soon!

I'm really disappointed with how this all went down. in retrospect it's pretty obvious this was a move towards a more generic art style to draw in a wider audience (i.e. a cash grab) at the expense of people drawn in by the original style. That's not to say everyone was upset by the changes, but how many people were asking for a rework? I was holding out hope that the Poll would address these problems but all it did was show a complete failure in understanding the issue. It was smart to release the updated sprites first and wait for everyone who hated them to leave the patreon. then do the survey so the results are skewed positively. Though it pains me to leave I can't continue to support this project due to the reasons outlined here

I don't think that's what they are are trying to do, the change in art style doesn't effect the writing that this project is known for, sure the sketch style they've been using has its charm but that's why it looks so sketchy: it's a place holder, it wasn't the final version but I do understand your feelings about it

Fucking fantastic job guys, seriously! You guys are doing great in interacting with the community and checking out how everyone feels, this was my first and only furry visual novel I've ever supported, and I'm glad it was this project, keep up the great work!

Personally, I think the anatomy, proportions, and body language of the new sprites are a vast improvement; however I also think that the shading and eyes of the old sprites were better, so I can't really say I prefer one over the other. However to me, the new Arvo sprite re done in the old style has the strong points of both versions and ended up being so much more than the sum of its parts, so I'd definitely say it was my favourite by a mile. Thank you for working so hard and giving the community the opportunity to voice their thoughts, I look forward to the future of this project.

Sprites this sprites that yes yes absolutely rah rah rah! So long as we get to keep the Bakemonoy/Dangpa/Prince CG scenes coming here and there I can live with the rest. Bakemonoy's Arvo/Bjorn, Dangpa's Devon and Prince O'Sky's Rune are all (in my personal opinion) the best representations of the characters. There will always be growing pains when it comes to projects like this, I just hope it doesn't detract from the VN as a whole.
