Split party?

- At egscomics

Commentary

I did mention Marik's seven minions before, but some of the responses I've seen make me think people have been picturing Marik just standing there, alone, and making demands while holding a fancy chicken?

Which is hilarious, but inaccurate.

I think it's fair that Marik The Cleric and his minions got to act immediately. After Nanase surprised everyone, Marik and his minions would still have a clear objective, whereas Rich, George, and Larry would still have to figure out how to respond.

THAT SAID, I'm not sure if that would have been the right thing to do in an actual game? People can debate that. In any case, this outcome worked best for this story.

Schedule

I'm not having an EGSNP on Tuesday because I'm moving my work schedule around.

This should be good for getting things done on time in the long run, but it's not good for having an EGSNP done for Tuesday next week. I'm also going to take a week off from posting a sketchbook next week while adapting to the new work schedule.

Four minions are chasing Nanase? CUE THE YAKETY SAX MUSIC!!!

Paul Rendell

Of course we can't forget all the traps that Nanase could find, but not disarm.

Wild Card

I figure Nanase will avoid the traps and the minions will run right into them. At least that reduced the number of minions for the rest of the party to deal with.

Some Ed

This is a fine amount of action to have the NPCs do before giving the players a chance to react. The NPCs managed a partial move, a verbal action, and then some completed the move while others stopped. That's a smidge more flexibility than players *usually* get, at least officially - but a lot less than what they usually get away with, since most DMs let them discuss what they're doing with their round for minutes on end before they act.
